Hi Mikey,
"My guy" is Jeff Gordon, and yeah, I take a lot of ribbing over rooting for "the kid", but the fact is, he's one of the very best to ever sit behind the wheel of a Winston Cup car. He was lucky in that he got to come into the sport with all the money he could possibly need and all the best resources from a top-tier racing team. And that has made a lot of people resent him, given how long & hard so many other talented drivers have worked and never gotten those kinds of advantages, so luck plays a big part in his success.
I like him because he seems to be pretty honest, gives credit where credit is due, takes no guff on the track from anyone, can drive with the best of them and better than most, and generally doesn't cause wrecks taking stupid chances.
There are a lot of other drivers I like too, Stirling Marlin, son of "Coo-Coo" Marlin, of course Kyle Petty, & Dale Earnhardt goes without saying, of course. And there are many others; I like Geoff & Todd Bodine both, Buckshot Jones, and others too.
It's hard not to like a lot of drivers, they all deserve respect.
