I Love it!
Hi Boss96Hog,
Yes, we do already have chips for the 2001's. We will need to know the computer code of your particular vehicle when it arrives to determine whether we already have a program for your individual truck.
You see, unlike other chipmakers, each Superchip is programmed for each specific individual vehicle, we do not make any "generic" programs. This is just one of the reasons why the Superchip performs better than any others, and always has. To locate your new vehicle's computer code, simply open the front passenger door, and look in the front part of the door frame, in the general area of the door hinges. You will see a sticker there with 3 letters and a number, and that is your computer code, very easy!
To answer your question about does the heavy payload change the program, the only change we usually see in the factory program is a little bit lower WOT (wide-open throttle) upshift point in some cases, that's about it. And this will automatically be taken into consideration in your Superchip, as it will be made specifically for your vehicle.
Ford, like other automakers, will use as many as 50-60 or even more different software programs in each model year of F-150. These revisions will be different based on anything from the rear gear ratio to the engine, transmission, etc. Also, even the exact same *identical* vehicle can have many different software revisions in the course of just one model year, as the automakers make minor running updates & changes during the model year. And we make a different program for each different software revision (or as we refer to it, "computer code")they release.
The other major reason the Superchip works better is the simple fact that it works *all* the time, not just on WOT. Most people don't know this, but the emissions laws are structured so that even for a brand new vehicle like yours, during WOT operation there are no emissions standards to be met, and therefore if you as a chipmaker only modify full-throttle parameters, then you reduce your R&D costs drastically, don't have to certify for emissions compliance, etc. Superchips doesn't do things like that, they modify and fully optimize the program at all throttle positions; the Superchip will give more power from 1000 rpm on up, regardless of throttle position.
Feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over all of this in greater detail, and congrats on your new truck!

Hi WJT,
I hear you! There are plenty of places especially on the Interstate, where if you aren't doing 80 you'll get run over. Been there, done that.
Have fun,

Hi LHM,
I'm glad to hear you went ahead and moved that lip out of the way, that way it simply cannot ever touch it again. What happens when you have that lip is that it constantly and slowly pushes against the back of the Superchip, thus forcing it slowly to become detached from the computer. That is exactly why we say in the documentation to go ahead and push it out of the way.
Sounds like you had a good look over that Dodge.
He has to learn on his own too!
