Since my truck is very much so a daily driver (and all most all highway miles) I will problably hold off on the gears for now. I know I want a Chip (Mike I'll get in touch with you as soon as I can get the $$) and an intake. Thanks for all the great info. I couldn't get my questions answered this well at even the best shops around, so my thanks to F150 online.
As far as a 4.2 beating a 5.4, thats just not going to happen in stock form. My brother owns a 2000 5.4 and I have gone side by side (for a very short period of time) The 5.4 is a strong engine all the way through the powerband.

Engine is 100% stock, not even a K&N filter.
Waste $$$ on a V8?
I don't think so.
By the way my wifes 1.6L 4cyl Honda minivan can tow more than your full size Ford truck.
And the Honda is only rated to tow a whopping 3500lbs.
(5.4L F150s are good for 8000lbs or so)
By time you pay for the premuim gas you are paying as much per mile as I am for gas.
You MIGHT be able to hang with the V8s when you get that NOS installed.
Superchips are great, "but they won't turn a 4500lbs truck into a fire breathing monster"

I've "known" (like we get to "know" people here on F150online) Bill Bateman for awhile now, he's been here for quite awhile on F150online, and I can tell you that he has a strong sense of humor. He doesn't really think that his V-6 is literally twice as fast as all 5.4's, I'm sure.
His V-6 seems to be pretty quick for what it is, and yes, there are certain stock 5.4's he or just about any V-6 with a Superchip *could* potentially beat, but it's all due to the effective power-to-weight ratio and gearing versus the weight it has to move. There is such a vast difference in weight between all the various possible configurations, that you can end up with a light 4X2 short-cab V-6 perhaps beating a 4X4 offroad 139" wheelbase 5.4, it's within the realm of possibility.
Now, the real question is, could his V-6 beat an identically-configured 5.4, that's the real question. You can't get a manual with a 5.4 in an F-150, so the 5.4 would have to be an automatic. And because the automatics lose about twice as much power to driveline losses as the manuals do (65 hp vs. about 30 hp.), that is another factor. So it all gets down to how much power is actually making it to the ground along with how much the torque is multiplied by the rear gear ratio, versus how much weight it has to move.
Lining the vehicles up and running them is what usually tells the tale.

I'm sure there is someone with a 5.4L that lives near you that can put you in your place.
I'll be glad to show you what a 5.4L can do.
Ohh and about wasting $$$ on the V8, you spend $250.00 for a chip and another $25.00 a month for premium gas.
For that you could have bought the V8.
Ohh and V6 manuals have a MUCH LOWER resale value that thier V8 auto counterparts.
Also my truck weighs more than 2300lbs so your wimpy V6 couldn't tow it anyway.
Heck it can't even tow hardly 1/2 the weight of my truck.
Hell your truck would strain pulling a Ford Escort.
On the other hand my V8 could tow almost TWO of your trucks.

your 5.4 = 260 hp - 65 = 195
mine 4.2 = 205 hp - 30 = 175 stock
mine 4.2 = 175 hp + 25 = 200 superchip
mine 4.2 = 200 hp + 5 = 205 k&n
mine 4.2 = 205 hp + 2 = 207 mobile one
You should by the superchip to catch up!
