The funniest thing is the mental image of seeing the scooter on the trailer go by from inside the ricer. His friends are never going to let him live that down.

Driving home from work, a red mustang was on side street, appears to see me, gets on the same highway about 1/8th of a mile behind me.

I am in the right hand lane. He accelerates until we are even. He then punches it. So do I. We stay even until another vehicle in front of me, forces me to slow down. I go into the left hand lane about two car lenghts behind him. He punches it. So do I. I "peg" the speedo at 100 mph and continue to accelerate until the govenor or what ever slows you down kicked in. He was still pulling away from me like I was in park! This is at speeds over 100 mph!

Man! I hope the MagnaCharger makes a difference!!!!

Ironhorse,

Something ain't quite right here. I have the superchip and I no longer have a governor. I have had my truck up to at least 110-115 and only let off because the truck did not seem to be handling well at that speed. When you get your Magnacharger chip, be sure that the upper speed limiter is removed.

Here is a race story that reflects every teens worst nightmare.
About 4 months ago I was the passenger in my buddies F150 4X4. Straight bone stock. It's about 10:30 at night and he and I are coming home from a sales seminar.
As usual I'm giving him a hard time about my truck being better than his. He's 24 so it is easy to get him going with that kind of B.S.
So we're at a light and Rice burner pulls up on his side of the truck. The kid in the car revs his engine a few times and my buddy laughs and tells me the Homey's in the car beside him are acting like they want to race.(yes, he called them homey's, he is only 24).
So I make a crack about how my truck could beat them but he better take it easy in his slow ride.
Light turns green and he does what I did not expect. He stomps it and races this car load of teens. Well, he beats them by about 2 truck lengths to the next red light. Well, he stopped at the light, but the "homey's" blow right through it.
We catch up to them about 2 lights down but now they are on my side of the truck. I looked over and recognized the driver and the young lady in the passenger seat. They are a couple of kids my son knows. I look in the back seat and see my son and his girlfriend. My bud talks me out of getting out of the truck and dragging my son out of that car.
So I get home before my son. You should've seen HIS face when I told him if I ever saw him in a car with that kid again I would spend the next 5 years making his life a living hell. He actually tried to make out like they were trying to hurry home before his curfew...LOL.

Aww come on dont be hard on him. He wasnt driving the car. He was in the same boat as you. Yall were both involved in a race ... both of yall were passengers. But he didnt have to run the light thats just stupid. Let kids be kids. We know your trucks not modded out so you can accelerate slowly LOL

LOL. The real deal is that from the first time I ever met that kid, there was something I didn't like about him. This was the perfect chance to outlaw him. That kid reminded me of Eddy Hascle from the old leave it to beaver show.

Rocks,

What the? You mean my upper speed limiter should have been removed when I "plugged in" the Superchip? I thought that the Superchip just re-adjusted the speed limiter to match the rating of the stock tires speed rating?

Yeah I had it "pegged" at a 100 mph for a few moments, so I know I was going faster than that, yet, the speed limiter did "kick in" and slowed me down.

Well the little punk starts to bounce on the line so I figure what the heck. turned off the a/c droped it in 1st and waited for the light. the light turned green i hammer the throttle. of the start just whooping him and then he starts to climb up my passenger side oh crap I can see his front end now...droped it into second buh bye Broncie pulls away. finally let off the throttle when he was about three cars back and 110mph
Hrrmmm...Correct me if Im wrong, but dont bronco's speedos max at 85? I know mine does.... Anyways onto my story.

So me and this other bronco were at a light. He smiles at me and gives me the little "hey lets race" head-knod. So we both slam it at green and Im wasting him thru 1st and 2nd, and somehow he bends me over and spanks me hard when we hit 3rd. I have NO CLUE HOW! Anyways, it was really funny because we both had 351's (SUPER GAS HOGS) and at the end we both pulled into a gas station. haha it was just funny/ironic.

iron horse,
I've run into that problem. For some reason my truck hits some sort of limiter if it's in OD. If I have the OD off, it goes over 100mph. MIke T. was telling me it was a battle between gearing and available HP, sounds believeable to me.,,,,98

98 screamer,

As I remember, I was already at highway speeds when the mustang pulled up next to me. So, I did not turn my Over Drive (OD) off!!!!!! dang!!!!!!

Thanks for the tip. Did not realize it would do that. Only good thing I learned from that thrashing was, that after lowering it (2/2), front-rear swaybars, and a hard bed cover, my supercab handles higher speeds much better than before.

I am going crazy waiting to see what a supercharger and shorter/wider/higher psi tires will do for acceleration and handling!

I bought my S.C. through Mike T. I have no upper speed limiter. I do have a rev limiter at around 5400 RPM's. but she never gets close to that.

Let me correct myself, I have not hit it yet if I do. I know I have out run a couple of Dodges with 120 limiters in them. And I made a joke out of a V6 mustange on the top end.

I think it is my responsibility to get tires that can handle the speed of my truck.

Posted this exact reply a couple weeks ago... too tired to retype them.

Well, I raced what I thought was a GT mustang; mid 90's. Was a 5-spd, and it was a true show vehicle; it had the paint job, altezza lights, rims, the whole 9 yards. Hell, he even had little fish tanks in his back seat. I kinda glanced over at his car and I thought I saw a GT symbol. So I was like, ok.... let's see where I stand. Took off from the light, and it was no contest. I pulled hard on him from the light on. By the time I hit 60, I had him by a good 3-4 lengths. When he pulled beside me at the next light, I looked over to see that his fender badges were the $5.00 GT R! badges you can buy at autozone. It was just a V-6.

Next was a mid 90's 6-cyl Firebird 5-spd. He was gunning it from every light, and weaving a lot so I thought I'd have some fun with this clown. I finally got next to him at a light, and we both left the light cool until we got to the other side of the intersection. He dropped it back into first and punched it. I was like "Hell no!" and I didn't let him get past my fender. I gunned it and took it up to 5 grand before the chip let the tranny shift. Nice little chirp from the tires in the 1-2 upshift, and it was all over. He tried to pull on me, but gave up when I had 2 lengths on him at around 50-55.

Last was actually someone I knew, although I didn't know it at the time. Some a$$hole was weaving and cutting people off behind me and would gun it every time he got beside me. It was a Mazda Protige` or however you spell it. Anyways, it was a little 5-door wagon, 5-spd. Bone stock. I kinda felt sorry for the guy... his girlfriend was in the car. I wasn't really in the mood to race, but this guy needed to be taught a lesson. He gets up beside me while we're going about 40, and rolls his fingers asking if I want to race for money. I shook my head no and didn't just walk away from him, I damn near sprinted! He didn't weave any more that I know of, and he wouldn't bother getting up next to me.

Those are my most recent ones

Thumbs up

A couple of years ago my wife and I flew to Vegas and then rented a convertible 6 cyl Mustang. That car had almost no low end to speak of, but it would wind up pretty good at higher speeds. I had that thing pegged for an hour or two through the most deserted two lanes on the way to Zion National park. That was a fun vacation, and raced a mercedes on the way. He blew past me on the way back to Vegas, and I couldn't let him get away with that, hehe. I stomped on it, and we took turns with the lead for about ten miles or so. There was no one around for miles, before anyone flames me for road racing. It was the most fun I've had in a car in quite some time,,,,,98

We weren't weaving around and driving dangerously, just a high speed run

Iron Horse,

What they are talking about with the Overdrive thing is that you usually do not have enough power to hit the absolute highest top speed in Overdrive, either in the automatics or in the manuals. Unless you've done something like 4.10 gears or a significant number of modifications that have raised power quite a bit, you'll almost always get your highest top speed in 3rd gear in the automatics.

In Overdrive, you are too far from the engine's horsepower peak (4800-4900 rpm in your present state of mods) to hit top speed. There isn't any limiter, you just run out of power, so it feels like the cruise control is on, it just won't go any faster. Turn the Overdrive off so you stay in 3rd gear at those speeds, and then see if it will go any faster, that's how you check to make sure the top speed limiter has in fact been removed. If it hasn't, *then* it's time to look at your Superchip.

Once in a while we'll come across a computer code that uses a different method of inplementing top end limiting, like at the beginning of a new model year sometimes, that happens from time to time. Anytime we have that situation, it's always a free upgrade when the TS limiters have been dealt with in later R&D. The Superchip removes the top speed limiter in 98%+ of these vehicles, so do your testing in 3rd gear & see what happens.

The standard TS limiter on most of these trucks is 98 mph, which looks like aobut 100 on the speedo. There are a few trucks that have TS limiters as high as 108 mph, some at 104 mph, etc., but most are 98 mph.

Feel free to give us a call to go over this in more detail,
