wynjammer, that is one cooool looking hood,I been trying to decided on a hood myself for the past 2 months(steel or fiberglass). Can you share with us how much that setup cost? around the ballpark figure would be helpful. Is that a AAD hood? steel or fiberglass? Appreciate your reply. steve

Thanks to all for the KUDOS. This was kind of a pain. Ordering, shipping, painting and finally installing. Seemed like it took for ever so I hope you won't mind my "fishing" for the compliments!

MIF_150, The hood is from HTTP://WWW.AMERICANAUTODESIGNS.COM
It is fiber glass with steel reinforcment around the hinges and latch. It retails for $595 but I ended up spending almost that much on the paint. It is two tone plus then inlet grill is painted black with a stainless steel wire mesh over it (not visible in picture)

NO. Ford will not allow functional hood scoops in terms of engine warranty. I did find, however, that I can route these thru the hood which is "double walled" in such a way where they will channel air right into the ait filter canister. Ford said this is ok but so far the cost is too much. I may try it myself but I'd hate to ruin my new ornament!

So since they're not functional, it seems to me that they are just causing more drag....

Without the hood, maybe you could have stomped that Lightning. :P

I know what goes into getting these custom aftermarket hoods, which are usually fiberglass, installed, fitted, and painted & finished, and it's quite a chore. For highly experienced professionals *only*, in my book. That work *deserves* compliments, IMHO!

Nice job, Wynjammer! many custom hoods don't turn out anywhere near as nice as yours looks.

Question

Thanks Mike!

Such compliments coming from you are truly noteworthy in my book.

By the way what is "IMHO"?
