HELP!! Overspray On my Black Exped!!
Hello Group. First post from me. Looks like a cool message borard and very informative! My wife decided to paint our cabinet doors with white Oil based Rustoleum spray paint. Did she think to move my 2001 Black Exped. XLT out of the driveway before she started spraying? NOPE!! I now have tiny, (pin head sized) white "over spray" specs ALL OVER both sides, front and rear, and top of my truck. I was able to clean all of the glass with a razor blade and windex. I washed the truck really good yesterday with some Turtle Wax Soap, didn't even phase the specs! Now what do I do? Never used an electric buffer. Scared to "swirl" the paint with it being black. I'm not afraid to do it by hand and use a little, or rather A LOT of elbow grease! The paint was in immaculate shape prior to this disaster! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and advice!
Yep. You need to clay bar the truck.
Doesn't have to be Mother's. I've used a professional clay bar and lubricating spray that costs less than the Mother's kit AND the clay bar is about 3 times the size of the Mother's bar.
They come in two or three grades. I got the blue colored bar. It's one of the finer bars. Won't remove overspray as fast as the other one, but there's that much less chance of damaging your paint if you make a mistake.
Read all the instructions before you put the bar to the paint.

Is the Clay bar kit fairly easy / recommended for an ametuer/first time user? What all is involved in the process of using this kit? Thanks again for all of the help!! John
Intel can tell you better, but from what I've seen, you spray on a Spray wax, to lubricate the area, then you go ahead and just push the bar on the surface and push back and forth. Wipe Clean.

You can use pretty much any quick detailer as a lubricant. I have a quick detailer that is carnauba based, which I use. They call it spray wax but it really isn't.
It's really easy.
First you must wash the truck CLEAN.
You spritz a small area with the reccommended spray and rub the clay bar back and forth. You run your other hand over the area to see if you got all the over spray off. Then you wipe the area with a white terry cloth and move on to another area. I do about a square foot at a time.
Between areas, you fold the clay bar over on itself, encapsulating the junk inside the clay.
If you drop the bar on the ground, throw it away. Don't lay it down anywhere except in the special plastic box it comes in. If you're not careful, you'll pickup gritty junk that will end up scratching your paint instead of smoothing it off.
When you're done, give it a good waxing.
I suggest you keep the bar in one hand and do everything else, spritzing, wiping, etc. with the other. The hand the bar is in will eventually get a bit sticky from the bar, so you don't want to be touching dirty things with that hand since it will pick it up and transfer it to the bar.
