If its only minor stuff like somebody opened their door into your truck and only scuffed it so it looks dull, or surface scratches, Meguiar's Scratch X is AWSOME!!! I've tried gs27 scratch remover and all that other crap, and they all created more swirls than what was already there. I got a sample of the scratch x at an auto show and tried it on my tgate and it was AMAZING!!! Took the door scuffs right off my driver door, and the scratches off my fender by the gas cap from teh a-holes here in NJ that pump your gas. The stuff is amazing for those fine scratches and scuffs. I'm going to buy a big bottle next time i'm at pepboy's. Hope this helps.

3M swirl mark remover

I have always had great luck with the 3M swirl mark remover.
You get it for light or dark paint, and it can be hand applied if you don't have a random orbit buffer.

As for the scratch, just use the swirl mark remover on it to minimize the edge of the scratch.

Removing a scratch completely in the clear coat requires removing the clear coat itself in the area of the scratch, IMHO this is not a good thing to do ( thinning out the clear coat ).

Minimize the edge of the scratch, and wax the hell out of it. Unless you go looking for it, you wil never see it, unless you have a show car, that is being judged.

This has always been my tact for taking care of scratches in paint, hiding is always better for the clear coat rather then removing, again IMHO.

For swirl marks get Meguiar's #9 if you will be applying by hand. 3m's swirl mark remove contains a lot of oil and is a pain to work down and buff off by hand.

For scratches then use Eagle One Scratch Remover. I like it more than Meguiar's Scratch X because it doesn't have as a lot of fillers.

What do you mean by alot of fillers? Can you explain why you like that one better? or is it just your preferance, or does it actually work better? I'm just curious before i go out and buy some scratch x. THanks

When I tried Meguari's Scratch X it left an oily residue on the paint. They put fillers in their scratch remover to help hide swirls and reduce the apperance of bigger scratches. I asked several other people who had tried Scratch X and they all confirmed that they also recieved an oily film on their paint.

A product like scratch-x is abrasive and thus, removes a certain level of surficial clear coat/contaminants to remove swirls or scratches. Along with the aforementioned, it will remove wax.

Scratch - X should be applied PRIOR to waxxing in my opinion. Waxxing, after applying, will elimimate the oily residue.

Good Luck.
