carnuba wax over synthetic

my dad's truck is due for it's wax job. Being black that it is it's hard to take care off and keep it nice. Since Carnuba melts around 150-180 degrees, we were curious if we could put synthetic wax on it say like Blackfire or sumthin for the protection, buff that off and then put a coat of carnuba wax on it like Pinnacle or sumthin for the shine. Is this ok to do???????

I would just use something like Zaino or Cherry Wet Wax. Plain ol carnuba doesn't last long at all. I use Zaino and will never go backl to plain wax.

I have heard great things about Blackfire. I know someone in the UK who owns a rare car dealership. He uses it on all his cars, Bentlys, RR, and Aston Martins. They really come out looking good.

One trick people use is to apply a carnauba over a synthetic. The synthetic will provide the shine and the carnauba will provide the wet look. A combination like Blackfire and Souveran would look awesome!

Another option is Four Star Platinum. I have not tried it yet but from what I hear it works very well.

Of course there is always the Klasse Twins

or you could use liquid glass. Best stuff out there IMO. It actually bakes onto the surface for a better deeper shine and better reflectivity, so if the truck is dark and in the sun alot, this stuff would work great, because the truck is supposed to "bake" in the sun for at least 4 hours to make sure it bonds right. You could to like tampa, do 10 base coats of LG, and then wax over top of it. But just fyi, you can wax over the glass, but you can't glass over the wax. You would need to strip the wax 1st. To strip LG, you'd need mineral spirits to get it off. LoL

I'm not too sure about that. In the wax test I read Liquid Glass was one of the least durable synthetics... I bet my fallout acid would take it off and on my test panel Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion took Liquid Glass off. I'm not gonna argue with the shine though. Liquid Glass does look awesome after you apply it.

well i dunno LoL, thats what i read on LG's website, and thats what Tampa said also. But i have about 16 coats on now, and it holds up fine for me. Maybe a few coats will come off easily, but maybe it gets harder if you have 10 coats put on in a short amount of time, with just enough time allowed for baking.
But yes the shine is amazing LoL

From the Liquid Glass web site:

Q. How do I remove Liquid Glass Polish/Finish?

A. For purposes of applying another brand wax product, a good quality pre-wax cleaner will remove Liquid Glass Polish/Finish. For repainting, Varsol or mineral spirits should be used with steel wool.
