Wanted: Tape Adhesive Removal Tips

The previous owmer of my truck most have stuck the for sale sign on the outside of the side window of the Leer cap as two vertical sticky lines are evident. They are spaced apart approximately the size of a for sale sign.

How can I safely remove this adhesive residue? Windex use requires some serious rubbing and the 'ole' thumb nail scraping between applications. I have bumper sticker remover but this sticker was on glass.

WD-40 works well. It will soak right through to the paint, breaking the bond, and you should be able to just rub it of then.

WD40 is propane and kerosene. So no smoking around it.

When I bought my truck new, I took the window sticker off and there was still alot of glue on the window. My Aunt told me about a product called GOO-GONE. Went out and bought a bottle(clear bottle with a black sticker, with a yellowish substance inside.) It really works good. Just my 2 cents.

WD-40 or Lighter Fluid... just be careful with either... Don't get either on anything... they don't mix with fabric, leather, or paint very well.

"Goof-Off" can be found at walmart and will dissolve adhesive, but many of these chemicals are pretty strong and will soften paint, plastics, etc. As long as the surface is plain glass, the Goof-off will take it off.

Whatever it uses be real careful about the drops, dont let any of the chemical get onto other surfaces!

I worked at a carwash one summer and we used to carry around a utility scraper that had a singal sided razor blade for sticker removal on glass. A few shots of window cleaner to soften up the paper and then a couple of scrapes with the blade.

you just want to make sure you get the blade as flat to the glass as your fingers will allow. To get the adhesive off of metal and plastic we would use lighter fluid.
