Engine Compartment

I was outside buffing the hood so I thought I'd take a few of my detailing job inside. Been working on getting as far down and as far back as I can. It is clean all over!

PS. The white dot on my airfilter is in the plastic. Anyone else seen this? Doesn't matter really, going to be putting on a cold air filter soon.

I used Eimann Fabrik Engine Degreaser. It is a natural citrus cleaner. Smells like oranges MMMMMMM

I sprayed it all over and then agitated it with a little brush I had. I then let it sit for about 15mins. After the 15mins I used my car wash nozzle set on shower to wash out the engine. I then used a towel to wipe as much water up as I can.

Now, once a month, I go over the everything with a towel to wipe whatever new dirt has gotten in there off. I've not had to use my degreaser or water since then! 10mins a month spent doing this and you'll never have to ues a degreaser and water again.

Do you have to cover anything up? That is ......do you spray down everything with water?

I did not cover anything up. I did not heat the engine up like some people say to do. Most people that have trouble are the ones who heat the engine up before cleaning it. Don't do it.

I just sprayed the degreaser on there and then used a little plastic fingernail brush that I picked up at a drug store to loosen up whatever I could. I then sprayed some more in the areas that were extra dirty and left it sit for 15 mins.

I then used my car wash sprayer. I had the water turned on really low. When I squeezed the trigger the water just kinda rained out. There was NO pressure behind it. That is, the water was not shooting down with any force.

I really hosed it down well too. I got everywhere. After that I used a towel to dry whatever I could see. I then left it sit in the sun with the hood open for awhile. I came back later and there was no water in there.

Now I just wipe it down often. 10mins of work every few weeks and you probably won't have to use water and a degreaser again.

I mix Armor-All and water 50/50 or so, and spray down then entire engine compartment after it is washed. It is much easier and less manual labor involved.
When you wash the engine, use light water pressure. A good degreaser mixed with water works good. I use Simple Green mixed about 40/60 with water so it doesn't mess up the paint. I start the engine right away so the water gets off the belts and some heat it built up to get rid of the rest of the water. Then I spray the Armor-All. Lastly, wash the truck, the Armor-All will get on the fenders sometimes.
