Scratching my head on this one

As most know around here I keep the truck pretty darn clean. But the wash this morning has me stumped. Last Saturday I did a quick wash and the Sealant and Wax seemed in great shape, big water beads and the water just rolled off. It rained that evening while I was driving so the truck had road film.

This morning I decided to give it the weekly bath and it seems like no Wax or anything is on it. No water beads, its drying like crap and just doesn't seem anything like my paint always does.

What the heck would cause this?

It's the same Chemical Guys Honey Dew soap i have used with my foam canon for the last year.

I even tried to use my Chemical Guys Detailer spray to freshen it up and its not helping. About to go out and go with clay bar, sealant then wax again. Didn't really want to spend 10-12 hours on it today but looks like there isn't a choice.

Still makes no sense at all.

Very well could be. Turn the faucet on and the chlorine hits ya hard.

If that's the case I will get me a little 5x10 trailer with a water tank on it and wash it with R/O water.

Could be changes in your local source water...switch from surface water to wells...well water is generally harder...

I highly doubt it's recycled water...

What do you use as a Last Step Product (LSP) Wax, Sealant etc.?
Do you use a "Drying Aid" product?

If the paint isn't contaminated, you may be quicker with the PC and a finish pad and light polish like M205 to clean it up prior to re-applying.

It seems like an odd case, but I actually drove through a rain once when I was living in IL and it seemed to do the same thing. But I also thought it could have been the water used when I washed it after.

It was a case that always made me wonder about "Acid Rain".

Which wax and sealant did you use?

I used Black Fire Sealant and the Wax. I think it was definitely just a 1 time deal. No problems what so ever since reapplying

Glad that it isn't reoccurring!
