Chip Guard. Do you wax or???
Chip Guard. Do you wax or???
We've got a 2010 RAV4 that has chip guard on the entire front of the vehicle, on the front of the side mirrors and on the ENTIRE hood.
Do I do anything with it other than wash? I don't see anything good coming from buffing or clay'ing a plastic sheet. Maybe just wax or some Liquid Glass?
Thoughts?

I think you're talking about "paint protection film" or a "clear bra"? It's a plastic film that is applied to protect the paint against damage from rocks and even bugs?
I have this on both my vehicles. When it was applied to my car, it was recommended that I use Xpel polish on it, which is supposed to restore some of the chemical properties of the plastic and help it remain transparent. I've been doing that anytime I wax the vehicle, using Liquid Glass on the rest of it.
As far as cleaning it, I just use Meguire's Gold Wash and water and a bug scrubber if the bugs are stubborn.
So far, after a year and a half on my car, it still looks brand new, and, is certainly protecting the paint!

I've used the same sealant as on the rest of the vehicle and it seems to be OK. The 3M film that was on my '06 Super Duty was on there since new and looking a little faded. I polished it with M105 and it came right back to looking great. Since it was on the truck for so long, I really didn't want to fight with removing it.
I tried the 3M spray on my car before I got the film. I was not happy with the results or the durability. I consider it a waste of money and time.
