Help restoring black plastic

My black plastic fender trim, bed caps and bumper caps are badly faded and turning white. What's the best thing for bringing these back to life? I've tried the turtle wax restorer but it didn't last long at all. Thanks for the help

I have not tried it myself, but there are some threads on here from a few years ago with pictures.

Allow me to rephrase my response.

If you want a Permanent solution, proper prep and paint is your best bet. Emphasis on the word 'Proper'.

Otherwise, the Lady Clairol colour in a bottle alternative will be fine .

Only yer hairdresser knows fer sure

Used it on a very bad test case, 1986 Volvo.

Outlasted the Solution finish side, I would guess due to it being a dye.

Don't play games with it, for the money get the showroom restorer from Rick @ ADS.

The test mule for this just went to CO springs, it will be gone for 2.5 years.
I APC'd the snot out of the solution finish side and went with the restorer from Rick. Don't know how it will work long term going over the solution finish side ( don't know if I got it back to the same condition as the other side or not ).
Dye does not sit on the surface of the plastic, so if you scratch it you don't have to worry about peeling off. Unless you do something to it before you apply it ( make the mistake of trying some mothers back to black crap on it ) dye will outlast anything else. At least it is on the neglected bumper covers on the volvo ( and the owner tunnel washes it ).

I use the showroom new first, and after that cures I apply Ultima tire and trim guard plus. Used on my uncles trim that had turned gray looking from him not ever putting anything on it. He was so happy with the way the truck turned out, he threw me in a extra fifty.

If you are very cautious a heat gun will get you back to black. I would suggest grabbing a faded piece from a junk yard to get the hang of the process.

I'd recommend Carpro DLux coating. If it's really faded then a black dye product like Solution Finish will "bring the black back". Even with that I'd top it with Carpro DLux for longevity.

When my plastics started to turn white and dull all i did was take a heat gun to them and evenly apply heat over the plastics and it turned them back to new...
