Headlight plastic

Whats a good product to use on a new trucks clear headlight casing, to either seal it or protect so it will not haze so quickly?

I use Profection Paint Sealant (P-73-Q).….I also use this on all my chrome, stainless, etc…it not only shines it up like new but it is sealed from the elements as well……it works very nice on the poly carbonate headlamp lenses as well- cleaning up the lighter haze that happens over time.

Can I ask what you are doing to a headlamp to cause it to haze ?

If you start grinding on the headlamps with something right out of the gate, you are going to be slowly removing the coating that is on them when they are made.
- There is a UV coating for the reason you are looking at.

Over time this coating can be worn off, either salt blast if you are in a snow state, or sun damage if you are in the SW states.

Best to treat them like paint, be nice cleaning them. Don't use paper towels and don't go after them with MF and some quick detailer when they are filthy.

I would be careful about applying anything to them.
If it is a cleaner, make sure if there is a polishing part to it, that it is not going to start to remove the coating.
If it is a sealant, might want to make sure it is not going to yellow over time.
- There are a few products that are made for headlamps like Optimum Poly Tech, but this is more so for when a headlamp needs to be polished to remove hazing or damage.

I have yet to polish my headlamps on my '06 with ~ 90K miles on it, and they are still clear as the day I got the truck.

My sister's '01 honda civic they look like crap, the coating has been slowly peeling off over time.
I keep polishing them, but I need the car to stand still long enough in IL and the weather to hold to apply Opti-Lens to them.

I have never used the clear 3M film, these get some good ( or mixed depending on where you look ) reviews as a protector for headlamps, if you have a corner case for hazing.

Have you had an issue with the newer ford headlamps with hazing in the past ?

Plast-X is a great product, but it's a polish and doesn't have any protective qualities. One can use it to remove light oxidation and / or scratches, but then you need to apply something else to protect the surface.

Special highly water resistant polymers provide long lasting durable protection to keep your clear plastics clear and beautiful longer.

PlastX once a month, don't rub it in hard, just use it like wax.

Don't know what that was. Did you get the truck new ?
- Don't know if it had a PO that did something to them.

My 2001 lamps were still clear ( for what non lightning unit are ) when I swapped them out for dad a few years back.

Just treat them like paint, and you will be fine.

I still have no issues with my 2006 headlamps with 90K+ miles at 7.5 years old.

If you have an issue, that is the time to put polish to them.
Don't grind on them with polish ( no matter how hard or soft ) for no reason.

I've had good results with the headlight care system from Diamondite offered on Autogeek
