Lets talk about my roof.....

Have a situation that has gotten worse in the past year. My roof has been peeling and now theirs is a touch of rust settling in.

Here is a photo

Went to a large chain in Dallas for an estimate and I got a minimum quote of $710. I said its just the roof but for them they do it to this high quality standard, etc, etc. he said only other option that would be cheaper is Maaco. I know no one who has used Maaco and was curious if anyone had used them. It's just the roof, as long as it can last a few years so I can sell it rust and peel free.

I found a post here on how to do it yourself a while back but can't find it now. I think you basically use colored rustolium or something but don't quote me. Anyone familiar with this? Thanks!

needs to be stripped sanded and prepped to do it correctly, because of the blending issues and the painted A & C pillars, you either have to burn the clear in, or you end up painting half the damn truck in clear.

Ford had issues with roof paint on the 01-03 Screws. They didnt put enough paint in the valleys and not enough clear to top it off. That combined with harsh Texas summer sun

So in the nicest sense I should take it to a shop? I love spending money. How is the new dealership working out for you? I have driven by many times in the past few weeks.

My truck is doing the same thing. Mine is going to get repainted very soon but I will be filling in the smaller channels to smooth out the truck. It's low to the ground and a lot of people are able to see it. Just something different I Guess

Post some pics when you are done. I'd be interested to see how that will look.

Will do. I should have her in the shop by Monday and it will take a couple of weeks. They are fixing a few things like PTM the front bumper and going over the rear I did. My buddy Kevin's shop does High end paint and as of tonight his wife promised a top notch Job. I'm getting anxious to see the "ol girl all done up!

I've got a white 2006 that's got the same thing going on. It's not as bad as that, but it'll get there. It also likes to grow mold, and it is a royal pain getting it off. Truck's been in Texas its whole life too haha

Never had trouble with roof mold, but the window molding on my wife's old five hundred looked like a petri dish if it went more than week without getting washed.

I just never remember to wash the roof! And when I do, I'm guessing that enough of it survives to spread as soon as I'm done.
