2011 CTS-V Wagon Correction

**I am not a paid blogger for Megs as Beachkid claims I am**

Now that's out of the way....

Neighbor bought this car this week, said he wanted it clayed and coat of wax....but what he really meant was, can you take all the swirls out of it.

So I agreed and start at 9 am this morning. Just finished taking photos. Only around 9 hours, I made him help me on one step.

First off, this thing has a lot of acreage on it. Just getting it clayed took me over an hour...then get started.

Started with Mebs MF system...but quickly noticed it wasn't cutting enough to get to the swirls when I thought were very light.

Broke the flex out and hit a test area with a White Lake and SSR3....didn't make a dent it in. Then got the PFW pad out and grabbed the Menzerna SIP. Nope that didn't get it either.

Reached for the big kuhuna....Makita with a yellow Megs pad and SIP was the trick. 3200 RPMs or so, 2.5 passes. (overlapping passes on 1x1 area)

Followed that with the Megs MF system...that seamed to do the trick.

Process was:
APC+ and Wheel Brightner for wheels and tires
ONR, 2 bucket method.
Makita, Yellow Megs, Menzerna SIP
Megs MF system, step 1 and 2
Optimum Opti Coat-V2
Optimum Tire Dressing
HD in Wells

This paint was much harder than i anticipated.

No befores really, no time.

Ok, one before :

crap in the paint

a little chaos.

this is the type of scratches that covered this car.

working the Makita.

a little shameless

Neighbor is over 6 ft so he got to do the roof

Ok, I am showing off now

more

All done

My standard finished shot

going for shameless again

Pretty mean looking

Proof shot

Just making sure I got it

A little HD never hurt

Money shots

Hiding my after detail beer.

Last one

I am freaking tired.

Thanks John. This was a tough one. Anytime you break out the rotary you know its cray day and in for a fun ride.

Thank you. Hopefully this can help others looking to improve and learn about other paint surfaces. This was a true lesson in least aggressive first. This paint was like body armor.

Yeah that is definitely some hard paint. I detail as well, and I've been lucky enough to only have to use my Porter Cable DA to get the results I and the customer wanted. Now I know it won't be so easy on newer Cadillac's and I'm assuming GM vehicles as a whole.

Nice looking work. Good to hear the paint is hard on those cars. I have an '05 V and the paint is very soft. Someday I want a '09 or newer, but the used price is dropping very slowly.
