Need some tips on detailing plastic and rubber trim
My 06 F150 FX4 has plastic thats fading (bed rails, little on the door handles and parts of the cowl) but not as much as others i have seen. Seems the quality of the dye and plastic has gone downhill over the years...my older trucks (88 F350, 93 F150, dads 95 F150) black plastic trim still looks good when its scrubbed and dried, when a dressing is added (i use stones tire shine) it looks show room new and last for a month.
So what is a good recommendation that wont leave the plastics with that greasy look? I like my trim to have a nice gloss but not over done and not be greasy to the touch. I seen a lot of talk about the Adam's VRT, is that good for plastics and the rubber trim around the windows? Does it come off the paint and glass easy? How long does it last? Is it just for black trim or can i use it on my flares also? Anyone have pictures of how it looks applied? I havent seen any in my searches.
I also would be using it on my g/fs Ranger and moms Explorer Sport.

Black Wow.
Use VERY sparingly or it WILL be greasy. If the hard plastic is too far gone, use Showroom New. It's a dye.

I recommend trying...CarPro Cquartz DLux...it is not a dressing. It is a coating. Lasts up to 1yr.
DLux is a coating designed to restore, protect and enhance exterior plastic and rubber surfaces.

DLux Long Life Trim Coat was engineered specifically for coating plastics as well as rubber & metal.
DLux can also be used on any wheel finish including clear coated, chrome, aluminum, and plastic.
DLux coating will slightly darken the trim and does not leave a slick greasy feel that washes off.

Turtle Wax Ice is good, although I don't particularly like it on paint. Tend to use too much and is a bear to get off. But, on plastic trim, rubber trim, it works great. I wax the paint with good ole Turtle wax, then use the Turtle wax Ice on the black trim, running boards, mirrors, etc.. Easy and leaves no detectable residue.

I used a product called Forever Black by Meguiars on my extremely faded bumper trim. Used 3 full coats and while it did darken it quite a bit, after only two days, one in the sun, it looks like it did before I applied the stuff. Total waste of time and money for what I needed.
IMHO although Dlux lasts and "darkens" it is really not the product to "blacken" faded trim.
To "blacken" faded trim one of the better products out there is Solution Finish Trim Restorer.
Almost ALL the off-the-shelf products bleed down the paint when it rains or fades quickly.
Here is a review. I personally like to top coat Solution Finish with Dlux so it lasts a long time.
