Question scratches and rust on a 2006

Hello,
I got scratches due to tree branches, and 3 spots of rust as you can see with the images

the scratches are all over the truck, and the 3 rust spots are about the same size

can anybody please recommend me what tools and products should I get to fix it up myself?

I'll need a large amount I guess for the scratches, I don't need the fix to be perfect, but efficient would be nice

It all depends on how deep the scratches are. Does your fingernail catch in them? Looks like you need to have the truck repainted. How did you end up chipping so much paint off that your truck has rust like that? Look's like the truck needs a little better care if you don't want it to look that way.

Thats insane, lol....not sure if that can be taken care of with anything besides paint, but when i read title i figured itd be a few scratches by accident. Looks like that thing drove through downed trees, LOL. I just put a small 3" LIGHT scratch in my 07 being lazy and tryin to throw golf bag over the side. Was furious with that alone!!! I know they are trucks...but if i wont mind scratches when it long past good lookin, and im not payin monthly for it lol.

That's beyond detailing - you need rust treatment and a repaint.

I think when it comes to repainting "you get what you pay for"

What did you do to the poor thing? There's more scratched paint then not scratched!

If you want it to look even half way decent, it's not going to be that cheap. Looks like the whole thing needs to be repainted. And as others have said, what did you do to your truck? If you don't want it to look like this, you need to take better care of it.

Yeah, but what about the rust?

For right now, you need to sand down everywhere the paint is chipped and where it's already rusting, down to bare shiny metal, and hit those spots with primer in a rattle can.

I think you can get a decent paint job for about $1200.

If this is gonna be your trail rig and not something that you wanna spend alot of time washing, waxing, general maintenance, etc. you could do a Rustoleum paint job. It will devalue that new of a vehicle but my guess would be it doesn't really matter considering the current condition. If the rust is like that on the body I can't imagine the undercarriage, etc. Or even how well the interior has been maintained??? The Rustoleum $50 paint job isn't going to be perfect or anything, you do get what you pay for- and who you pay to do it as well. but might be something for you to consider with this truck.

Sand and prime for sure no matter what you do (as said above).

You could also spend a weekend trying to wet sand it but my guess is it won't make a difference. some of those are probably too deep.

Research the rustoleum paint job- people get better results then in that video. Depends how much time you want to spend.
