Cool Waxed Black Truck with Zymol. Wow! (Lots of work but worth it!)

Just finished the first really thorough Zymol job on the black HD truck. It is tough stuff to get off -- it smears a lot and one has to turn the towel and rub it off several times before the smearing is gone. Took nearly 3 hours to do the entire truck. After finishing with Zymol, I removed the towel dust, etc. with Mist and Shine. Wow!!! The truck is really unbelievable now! It has a much deeper wet look to it.

As a test, before finishing the last fender, my wife came out to see if she could tell any difference. I told her to walk around and see if she could tell the one area that had not been waxed yet. It wasn't even a challenge: she picked the fender off immediately! We both thought the truck couldn't really get any better looking prior to doing the Zymol, but we were wrong.

Yeah, I used it too on my Screw. Actually
it is very easy to come off. It is recommended to remove it before it dries.
Leaves a great shine, no smears or anything.

Talking

The garage was 60 degrees when starting the job and warmed up to about 70 when finishing. My guess is the truck was too cold and that is the reason for the removal trouble. Zymol recommends 65 degrees minimum for application and to let the sun help warm the wax if need be. I didn't let it dry and didn't over apply it either. Followed the directions pretty carefully.

(Wasn't able to take it outside to do the job as the winds are horrible today with gusts above 60 mph.)

HarleyGuy, can you apply Zymol in direct sunlight? I've been looking for products that can be used anytime, anywhere. Thanks.

Cool

I really don't know if it is recommended to be applied in direct sunlight, but the instruction packet addressed the fact that if it were smearing, let it sit in the sunlight for a short time and heat up and then buff it out again.

One product that can be applied in direct sunlight is inexpensive and good working product: Nu Finish. Consumers Reports gave it a number one rating a few year's back.

Stephen--If I remember correctly, Zaino products can be applied in direct sunlight.
Check out www.zainobros.com

HarleyGuy, What Zymol product did you use?
I have used Zymol products and have not been happy with their durability.

I'l have to find out about the durability issue. Right now the truck sure looks great, and that makes me pleased.

The wax used is the Zymol Carbon -- for black and other dark vehicles.

If you need retailers of the product, let me know. I'll find where I bought mine -- it isn't immediately available.

Zymol is uusually available at Wallmart for a good price. I bought my last batch (a two bottle package) at Costco for really cheap. I've been using it for six months and like everyone I appreciate the ease of application and the great finish. Besides all that, it smells great.

Cool

I looked up where I purchased the Zymol "Carbon" back in Decemeber: www.autodetail.com

Click on Zymol and then click on Waxes to see what waxes they carry.

(It might be worthwhile to check out the site for your other car care needs. They sure have a lot of interesting stuff.)

Has anyone used both Zymol AND Zaino? Which do you prefer (for a black truck)?

I have used Zymol for years on my show car and everyday vehicle. It stand up great but you have to do it correctly. If youve never used it on a vehicle you need to HD cleanse it first and then apply the wax. It's expensive but lasts a long time cause you don't use much. By the way, the stuff you get at K-Mart or pep Boys is entry level stuff and NOT the good stuff. You need the Carbon for dark colors and Creame for lighter colors....just an FYI
