What do you guys and gals use on the factory cover, to keep it looking new and water proof etc.

I've had mine for 8 months and all I use is a soft wash cloth and Armour All car wash. I do not use any other protectants or products since I was told by the manufacturer not too.

I just use regular Zaino car wash. It shines great and never leakes.

Silicone spray works pretty well on mine. Just rub it in like you would hand lotion, otherwise if it rains, it's gonna streak the heck out of your bedsides.

I just wash mine the same time I wash the rest of the truck using Meguire's car wash concentrate. The lable on the underside of the cover on mine says we're not supposed to use any silicone products.

 

I had a Extang (I think) on my Ranger for over 5 years til I sold it. Never used anything but carwash soap, a sponge and a chamois to dry it. It still looked great when I sold it. I did spray the underside with tilex when it was off once to kill mildew on the bottom side. I hosed it off after a few minutes, no problem. I hope you didn't get one with snaps, they are nearly impossible to reattach in the winter, at least mine was. In 90-100 degree temps it was sooo easy.

Sportmasters recommend's using 303 Protectant,I have'nt tried it yet. Also they say to put a dab of vasiline on the snaps to ease closing. Washed the truck the other day and used the window squegee (sp?), works great at removing the water.

 

On my 2000 F-150 Lariat I have the same Soft Tonneau I bought for my 97,98,99 short bed. It's the Downey SST, (3 year warranty for the top), Paid 230.00 three years ago and still looks, feels and snaps like new. The truck is washed at least once a week. I use Armour All about every three months to conditioned the top. I live in Tampa, Florida where the sun takes it's toll on everything. No complaints.

 

I just found a product that may fit the bill. It is put out by extang ( Maker of my cover) and it is called Tonneau Tonic. Used it for the first time and it worked very well. Looks and cleans like ArmourAll, but will not harm your cover. Found it in my Truck supply store.

i use 303 high uv value--works good for me--doesn't make it look real shiny tho, but nice enough for me.
