Chrome exhaust tip cleaning?

Just wanted to get everybody's opinion on this;

I have an aftermarket dual exhaust, and I was wondering what I could use to get the soot off the lip of the chrome exhaust tips? I've washed it a few times, but I haven't been able to get the soot off. any specific chemicals I could use that won't damage the chrome?

Thanks,

Dave

Something like brasso (which is good stuff) : http://www.walmart.com/ip/BRASSO/148...i_sku=14862623

There is also a metal polish (Mothers, IIRC, but can't find a link at the moment) that comes in a short round can and has a cotton soaked wad inside. Anyone remember what this one is??

Go over to Lowe's and find the truck box section. Look for Diamond Brite Truck Box Polish.

I think you're talking about "Never-Dull". It's old school but works pretty good on chrome, never use on bare aluminum though...

If you are talking about that small black ring around the end of the tail pipe, try using some steel wool and some windex. It works for me. Doesn't scratch the chrome either.

I've used a brillo pad and windex.

That's Never-Dull. Works great and pretty cheap.

I've always just used some rubbing compound. Cleans up the chrome tips, bumpers, everything real nice.
