After Clay Bar

Clay bared (mothers kit) my entire truck today for the first time since I bought it. I used 1/4 of the bar and it took a lot off but after doing it once I was shocked at how little was actually on the pad. Maybe I need to do it a few times to get all of it off, not sure.

Anyway. I love what it did to my truck but now I need put a coat of wax on top. I am not happy with the wax I currently have (turtle wax) as it just attracts the dust to it and it was the only stuff left in the store.

What is a good paste or liquid wax to put on? I want something that will be super smooth.

Also is it useless for myself to clay bar it if I am running on gravel and dirt roads?

Thanks

Best easy to use long lasting liquid wax is NXT 2.0

If your paint is properly protected there is no need to clay more than once or twice a year. Gravel dust and dirt will usually wash off. Clay removes surface contaminants stuck to the paint that washing will not.

Not sure what you meant by "I used 1/4 of the bar and it took a lot off but after doing it once I was shocked at how little was actually on the pad."
Unless your vehicle has dark or heavy surface contaminants stuck to the paint you may not see all it removed just by looking at the clay. It may appear slightly discolored or maybe your paint doesn't have that many contaminants to remove which is a good thing. If you go over the lubricated surface with a light even pressure, back and forth, side to side and even circular, that's all there is to it. If the clay looks clean...you're done.

I cut the clay bar and did the whole truck with 1/4 of the original bar. I bought this truck used with 63000kms on it and now I'm at 83000 and this was the first time I took a clay bar to it. So maybe the prev owner or even the Ford dealer I bought it from clayed it before I picked it up. I threw that piece out as it had specks on it but a lot less then I thought.

Any decent cleaner wax will remove surface contaminants. It's a good bet either the previous owner or the dealer did one or the other prior to sale.

How quickly and how contaminated your paint gets has many variables. Parking under trees, the environment, near by industry, traffic where you park or drive, ect.
Clay goes a long way. As long as you cant feel the specks after kneading, never drop it, can knead it clean, or it doesn't fall apart, it's still good.

The Cleaner wax that comes in the Mother's kit is pretty good and will be enough to do your truck. As Old Dogg says, a synthetic like NXT will last longer and can be found in many stores. Follow the instructions and put it on thin, it will make it a lot easier to buff off.

Excellent choice if your looking for high gloss and long protection. NXT if you don't already know is a Meguiars product. NXT Generation Tech wax 2.0. Comes in paste or liquid.

As was stated evaluate the paint first to determine if anything needs fixing, (swirls, scratches, blemishes etc..) use the appropriate product for those if need be, then apply your wax, sealant etc..

I haven't used either one but have hear alot of good things about #26.

Not sure what look you are trying to achieve by top coating the NXT, but it certainly won't hurt and may achieve a slightly different look. NXT along with the professional version #21 sealant are top of the line when it comes to high gloss and long protection for Meguiars. Each will outlast the traditional wax products. Experiment and let us know how it changed the appearance with just NXT alone.

Tough Question.
Here are some answers...

NXT 2.0 vs 26 Tech

Gold Class + Carnuba vs NXT 2.0

M26 vs M26 on NXT 2.0

M26 Yellow Wax
