Detailing tip of the week

Would members be interested in this thread? we can all put our tips for others to learn....if so ill start....

Maintianing your wheels finish while mazimizing shine is easy. Start by cleaning wheels first. Applying a quick coat of some kind of synthetic wax bi-weekly will help reduce brake dust by a certain percentage while enhancing and maintianing your rim and wheel finishes for years to come.

now your turn...

You can use dryer sheets to get pesky bugs off the front of your vehicle. I have heard wonders about this.

Another Dryer sheets trick is they are great air fresheners. Put them on your floor board and leave them there for a couple of weeks they smell great! They are cheap too. They will mask smoke smell too

Although the original post sounded far too much like a shameless plug for a particular product (that I don't really think works), I'll chime in.

I use Swiffer duster sheets to keep my dashboard and plastic interior pieces clean.

Heavy Duty Cleaning

I live in Upper Michigan and every spring i have had to wet sand my rims (Mickey T classic II), I found a Product called New Aluminum Cleaner (By Lanes car care products) Its an acid based cleaner so dont use it if you have coated rims, but it worked wonders on my rims, 20 min total time cleaning then just a quick polish. And best of all no wet sanding.

Detailing tip of the week: reason why a microfiber towel has two sides is because one side its for applying a product and the other to buff the product off. that's why always be picky about the towels you buy and what you use them for...

When using Armor-All (or other like products for your dash) - spray them directly on the towel instead of dash. This prevents overspray getting on your windows (which is a pain to clean off).

Does SWGUY = Smart Wax Guy?

Smart Wax's RIMWAX or UNDERCARRIAGE DETAILER, SHINE & PROTECTION?

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's work well for removing wax residue on black plastic. They also work great for removing the clear coat off paint!

Thumbs up

I've been using Bon-Ami cleanser for over 25 years to clean my windshield.Another similar product that is just as good is Bar Keepers Friend.
