Oil Question

Oil Question

Aight so the ole trucks got 77,000 on her and I got the local Valvoline put max life in her and all was well and dandy. Well time for another change and im going to do this one myself so I bough 6 quarts of max life again, but what the shop put in was 5w20, I bough 10w30 still max life however. Is this gonna throw anything off or am i good to go? Thanks

Yeah, I'd not use oil on the paint as it just won't leave a good shine.

i would put in what ford calls out for in your manual if it states 5w-20 thats what i would use i.m.o. you can take the 10w-30 and exchange it. your question would be best answered in one of the engine forums.

Do not use 10W30 in a Triton V8. 5W20 is the correct grade. Your owner's manual will say 5W20, and it says it right on the oil cap too.

As I work for the company that makes the Ford factory fill and service fill oil, I think I can answer this. Short answer, no. Do not use the 10W-30 vis grade, period.

Yes, it sure is. I've been in the lubes division for 4 years now and currently I am the OEM rep to Ford. So anything you guys might want to know about factory fluids, aftermarket fluids, or platforms in general just let me know.
