Removed my f-150 badges. Probably 90% of the foam tape stayed on the fender. Whats the best way to get it off? Without damaging the paint of coarse.

Goof Off or Goo Gone will work. Remember to wash and rewax the area.

use rubbing alcohol no need to wash after

 

I use Goof Off, but WD40 is supposed to work as well.

 

i used my finger to rub off the foam.. it sucked! then i used Windex (Non-ammonia)to clean it up before installing the new emblems.

 

Yep -- having removed 3 emblems off my '08 Mustang I can assure you that the factory adhesive tape sticks like a booger! I just rubbed the majority of it off with my fingers (my fingertips were raw by the time I was done) and cleaned up any residual adhesive with Goo Gone. Believe me -- you'll be happy when it's done.....

 

what do yall think about some of the adhesive remover wheels at the bottom of This Page?

 

that is the stuff my dealer's body shop told me to get. most O'Reilys with the paint section has it. i used it to take off the left over tape from ventvisors i had b4 i went to inchannel. works great and is paint safe!!

 

They may work great but I'm not trying them.

 

Tried WD40 and didnt really work. When y'all are talking Goo Gone, are y'all talking about just regular Goo Gone? Went into AutoZone today and they had Goo Gone specifically made for vehicles. Showed the guy the spot on my truck and he said thats exactly what I needed and it would not effect the paint at all.

Hope to give it a try tomorrow.

 

GooGone got the adhesive tape for the door molding off my truck without damaging the paint.

 

Just the plain ol' regular Goo Gone and Goof Off. Can be found at any Lowe's or Home Depot.

Remember to wash and rewax the area.

 

I use the industrial strength Good Off. Works very well; just don't rub too hard or too long...
