Small world - I was just going to ask the same thing! Unless someone tells me that it's a bad idea, I was going to use the lambswool ones I picked up at Big Lots last year, the same ones I use with conventional wash soap. My ONR should be here tomorrow.

I picked up a chenille (sp?) MF mitt that I've used once so far with ONR. That's what I'll be using for now on, unless I find it''s causing problems.

1st choice would be the sheepswool mitt, but the chenile muppet mitts are good too. The key to the whole thing is light pressure with the mitt, and lots of trips to the rinse bucket. I'd say the two bucket method is always the safe bet. Usually two clean mitts for me for the whole truck.

Okay - so even though the instructions say to use a MF towel, using a quality mitt instead is fine?

I use the LC Blue Groute sponge. I have used the SM Arnold lambswool mitt before with it. I just feel like the dirt doesn't full release from the lambswool mitt. The mitt discolors from the dirt. Turns blackish. The LC groute does as well but it doesn't seem as bad. I think the groute sponge releases dirt better. The LC sponge is a bit on the big side though so it takes a bit to get comfortable with it. I do really like the lambswool though. I fall back on those when I need to.

Will the dirt release if you use a second bucket with just water to slosh it in?

I don't know for sure but you can try it. I don't think it's going to help much though. I actually had to clean my mitt in the sink using dawn. To be fair though, I don't think it's much different than using a mf towel. If I had to pick between the two I'd use the lambswool over the mf. Especially the SM Arnold mitts. They're nice and plush so the dirt that does remain will for the most part be trapped out of the way. I should also mention that a lot of it depends on how dirty the vehicle is. I think if you're doing weekly washes where the vehicledoesn't get too bad you won't have a problem either way.

On a side note, anyone interested in buying some ONR, Justin at Obsessive Detail just put it on sale until May 6th.

What were the prices of ONR before on sale at obsessive detail? His prices are the same as autogeek's normal prices...

I use the dreadlock mf mitts but after extensive reading on the Optimum website im going to try some cheap cotton mitts.

ONR primarily works by trapping the dirt in the wash media...IE wash mitt and the Optimum site recommends changing the mitt if it gets overly nasty during a wash.

optimumcarcare.com

FAQs (Thanks Dr. G, BENCE & ANTHONY O.):
1. Why does it feel slimy and not foam?: ONR should feel somewhat slimy, as this provides lubrication/encapsulation which carries away the unwanted dirt particles from the surface. This is a good slime.
2. Why is my wash media so much dirtier than when I do a traditional wash?: ONR binds the dirt to the wash media intentionally. You should change mitts as needed. They can then be soaked in regular detergent to release the dirt before rinsing or washed in the machine.
