The outer ½" edge of the pad dries out faster than the rest of the pad and slings dust like crazy.(I believe because it is not in contact with the surface due to small backing plate).
Smaller pads dont dust up like the 6.5 pads.
I dont think meguiars makes smaller pads.
Bigger plates and pads spin slower with the G110.

I hate dust.
I love the Meg's soft buff pads, but I like them more on my DeWalt Rotary than on my PC. The red "Cutting" pads are totally useless on a PC because the PC just can't generate enough RPMs to use them effectively. The yellow "Polishing" pads work great on the rotary - and I kind of liked them on the PC - until I tried the smaller LC pads. But, as you've seen many times here, different pads, products and techniques lead to very different results.

i see. i had major dusting issues with the poorboys products so i know what you mean. i guess i'll just try some of the smaller CCS pads. i was trying to simplify things by trying the megs pads. it's hard to remember what pad does what when you have a ton of colors.

I don't know what to tell you i never have a problem with dusting that much. I'll just wash the vechile if it gets that bad.

How are you priming the pad? QD or 105? And how much are you putting on the pad

I'm not positive on this but I would think part of the reason a larger pad would dryout on the outside area is that it's spinning faster (sorta) than the inside of the pad. Similar idea to that of larger wheels throwing off a speedo. The rpms may be the same but there is more area being covered on the outside. I think priming the pad with the product becomes more important here as well as spriting with water to reactivate it and keep it workable. This is a theory and not a fact. I could be way off in which case disregard everthing I just said.

I have tried both and I favor M105. After a couple of applications (at the most) I always (wiped) clean the pad with a microfiber (and dust flies). I also tried letting the pad "load up" to see what would happen. I have experimented with numerous methods (water spritz)....even a damp microfiber to wipe after polishing and then I just have more polishing to do.
Im going to try either Optimum Hyper Compound or Optimum Hyper Compound in the place of M105.

Here is something I noticed today as I was changing backing plates on the G110.

There's nothing wrong with using smaller pads i was just pointing out that the meg's pads work fine with the g110.. after that's what it was designed for
This makes no sense. The G110 says on the mounting plate to "Use 5 Inch Pad Only" but Meguiars only makes 6.5" pads and larger?
Go figure.
