I'm a young guy that always loved cars. I have two BMW's, 07 truck, bike, 2 quads but I dont have a classic (old school). I want purchase it, restore it and occasionally drive it. Why? I'm just asking.

yes andrewc did do a 74 van with some good results, however white is alot more forgiving than the color red....another thing to point out, the van that was done is all verticle sides (the van only has the hood which is very small..we did not get shots of the roof), this impala/caprice is all flat surfaces, the hood and trunk is what catches all of the sun, and where water sets on and dries/bakes into the paint...

some things to consider.

good luck let us know how it turns out, and if you still got it, or can take pics of it, show some more...like an update in a month or so...
The DC won't hurt as zaairman said, and I get what you are saying troberts about the verticle sides and the color white, but you still have to admit that color x is going to make a faded red (which is like you said hard to restore lots of color) look a heck of a lot better than it did before.
