NXT first as its a sythetic wax and has cleaners/ fillers in it. Really no need to top it with anything.

I disagree... Well, the order he has spot on (duh, 03gtmustang knows about stacking, so he wouldnt get this wrong), but I like to top synthetics with carnaubas regardless of the cleaners or fillers.

Personally, I like the added depth and wetness to a stacked setup (synthetic + carnauba). I find that the suran wrap look of a synthetic alone is ricer-like, thus my instant aversion to it (aversion is the right word, right?)

BUT-- this matter is PURELY personal taste. Yes it is okay to do. Personal preference will tell you whether or not to do so.

If I remember correctly, Gold Class Car Wax has some cleaning ability. Therefore, it might remove some, or all of the NXT. Meguiar's #26 or Mothers Pure Carnauba would be better choices. (if you are looking locally)

On a side note, I have NXT 2.0 topped with Mothers Reflections Top Coat (no cleaners) on one vehicle, and it looks extremely nice. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I also put on Optimum Car Wax after every wash or so. This vehicle looks like it's just been waxed... week after week.

Whatever the case, topping NXT 2.0 with a good "non-cleaning" product won't hurt.

I think I read on the Meguiares forum the other night from an actual employee that NXT 2.0 was made to look like a synthetic topped with a carnauba (deep and wet) and that after 26 years of detailing he no longer sees the need to top the new NXT 2.0 with a carnauba like you would with the old stuff.

If I run across that link again I'll post it here. Personally I don't know if I got an extremely old bottle of #26 and I didn't shake it up enough or something, but I was just never really impressed by it (well actually I liked the banana smell, lol). It didn't seem to make anything deeper or wetter looking and looked kinda dull IMO. But this new NXT 2.0 just blew me away! Just the swirl filling/hiding performance alone sealed the deal that I'll only be using NXT 2.0 from here on out (easily beats out Autoglym Super Resin Polish which is saying something because Super Resin Polish was pretty much class leading in that area!)

NXT is a synthetic wax with Carnauba in it. Highly doubt you'll notice a difference from topping it with a Carnauba. Other things you need to consider are what is the Carnauba going to do for the paint when you're applying it on top of a different product, not the paint. How is the Carnauba going to bond, what will it do the the slickness NXT gives the paint, will it dull the paint or will you actually be able to see a positive difference.

I find NXT topped with a pure carnuba like #16 makes a big difference in the looks department IMO.

GC is a polish/wax, no cleaners. It should be applied to a clean surface though.

There is no carnauba in NXT, it is purely a synthetic wax. I have topped NXT with GC and the paint looked just as good, if not better, as it did with just NXT.

The polishes in GC give it the cleaning ability that I mentioned. Those polishes might remove at least part of the previous coating. However, GC is a pretty decent product, and I understand the latest version has been improved. After all, "polishing" is a good thing!

I was under the impression that those were pure polishes though, not cleaners?

I'll poke in for this one.

I think what we have here is semantic confusion and a little misinterpretation.

Anytime a Polish is used it has enough abrasive quality in it to remove surface imperfections and thus is somewhat considered a cleaner. sort of.....kind of....A product that is considered a pure polish is just that, no other properties in it, no wax, no sealer just polish.

When you talk about a product that has no real abrasive quality and you use the word "pure" most of the time this is used to describe a glaze.....

I agree with Dan and Boss here on this one...

Take PB EX as an example. It is a sealer with carnuba in it...there is no need to top it, however if you top it with a carnuba LSP product it works just fine and it many cases, it can enhance the depth.

If you were to use PB EX-P, that is a 100% pure sealant...and it is perfectly fine to top that product with a carnuba LSP but not with another polish/wax combo but like EX, some people do not feel the need to top or stack. Its a personal preference.

As you can see, it is somewhat dependent on which line or combo of products you are working and the choices you have for the desired results.

I sure hope that came out right, i haven't had an adult beverage yet so my thinking could be a little out of line here.

If it didnt have any Carnauba in it, then I would think it would be called a sealant, not a wax. Its my understanding that synthetic waxes have polymers/acrylics along with some Carnauba. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showpo...29&postcount=3

Im waiting for a reply from Meguairs.

I just put a 2nd coat of #16 over 2 coats of ntx. With the first coat of 16, I thought I might be wasting my time! But with the 2'nd coat... I was amazed. allot of work' but I can't stop looking at it! It's like a piece of art. (orange peel and all)P.S. rain and mucho pollen in between coats. Lots of detailer. Started to think #16 and pollen could make a environMENTAL polish. Ouch!
