Fixed my faded cowling..

My windshield cowl was fading pretty bad, so I decided to do something about it.

One can of black Fusion paint and it looks a whole bunch better! I'll just have to wait and see how it holds up.

Looks good. Did you have to prime it before you painted it? Or did you spray it with paint?

Just paint this time around... I figure if there are adhesion problems, it's not going to be a big deal to take it back off, sand everything down, then repaint but I'd use an adhesion promoter as well.

How did the cowling get so faded? Just from the sun? My '04 sits outside 365 days a years and the cowling still looks like new. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Mine is fading badly. I may try that myself. Did you remove it to paint it?

Hey Blue,

I did indeed remove the cowling, made it MUCH easier to deal with. I had to do a little shaking and cussing, but it eventually came out no problem. If you'd like more detailed info on how to remove it send me and PM and I'll send you the directions I had....

I think it might have been the VTR i put on it that caused it to fade, but then again I don't have a garage or anything so it's been exposed to the elements for almost 2+ years.

PS: Blue, I like the new sig!

Now that looks good ... The Fusion plastic paint is some good stuff. I painted a set of plastics for a dirt bike with it and it held up pretty damn good for all of the abuse I put it through.

Now geoelpalillo I know you are new here but you need to fix that signature. That picture is too damn big bud.

Thanks for the sig compliment. I owe Patrick(Patman03SprCrw) for creating it.

Thanks NCSU, I have bought the fusion paint and it is ready to go to work as soon as the weather breaks here! Yours looks great! Did you use a gloss or satin? I have a silver fx4, so I bought the satin...hopefully it looks as good as yours!
