NXT Question
NXT Question
ok ive just bought my first thing of nxt i got the paste. my question is what is the best things to go along with it, i hear alot about s100 and etc what do you apply before nxt, and what are the rules of using nxt?
I just got done applying NXT, the liquid version however. Personally? I don't like it. Not on black paint anyway. Maybe the paste would be better, but I have no way of knowing that for sure.
Are you familar with paint prep? Or do you just want to wash and wax?

Well, the NXT is suppose to cure for a minimum of 12 hours having time to adhere itself to the paint. Then yes, the S100 would go over the top of the NXT. However, if you are used to Zaino and it's durability, I believe this combo of NXT and S100 would be a let down for you. Claims are NXT S100 combo does not last but a few weeks. 4-6 weeks, conservatively. But, from what I read on other forums the shine quality is very, very good, particulary on dark colors.

but i really dont want to screw the looks of my paint up with someone thats not as good as what ive heard
Heres my truck with Mequiars #20 paint sealant applied. I'm going to be applying the S100 over the #20 today. Personally? I don't think the NXT will make your truck look much different. I've seen NXT on white and even then it was just to plastic looking for my taste. I think your trucl looks great just the way it is. I wouldn't change nuttin'

Mequiars #20 Polymer Sealant is a unique blends of polymers, silicones and imported waxes that creates a brilliant high gloss finish that outlasts all other waxes. Safe and effective on all paint finishes, including clear coats.
It's like $15.00-$20.00 for the 16oz bottle.

i know all about applying it very thin, i belive thats one of the tricks with zaino lol, i apply zaino so thin that you have to look at the truck at an angle while taking it off or you wont see if your getting it or not.
Hi ridge -- it your neighbor up the road here...
NXT is a very good product for standard, every day use... when compared to Zaino, I think you're going to find that it falls pretty short. The shine will be similar but, the durability will fall short versus what you're used to with Z.
That said, it's still not a bad product in my opinion.
#20, in my personal opinion, is exactly opposite of rusty's. I don't particularly like #20 or #21 (boty Syn Sealants). I find them both to yield a similar look to NXT but are a bit more difficult to work with. Paste vs. liquid -- you're really not going to tell a difference between the two in my opinion. I prefer a paste simply because I feel like I can get more even, uniform coverage and can control the thickness better with less product usage. Again though, this is a personal preference.
From a yellow standpoint, if you were to drive up I-71 to see me, I'd attack it like this... probably start with Meguiar's Premium Paint Protection (this, of course, after removing all swirls/straight line scratches/etc (ie: proper prep)). Following the MPPP, I'd probably go with 3M Perfect-It paste. The MPPP has synthetic properties and thus, you get the protection that MPPP offers but, it doesn't give the suran wrap look like many synthetics do (NXT, #20, #21, Mother's Synwax, Zaino, etc). Once topped with the carnauba look of the 3M product (or S100, or Meg's #26), you'll see much more depth and likely a more clear optical view.
All of that said, I'd probably forgo a huge change in your procedure if you're quite happy with your process. I'm not exactly sure what "green polish" is but, I think that the 'red wax' is probably Meguiar's Cleaner Wax?
Lastly, if you decide to go with #20 or another 'Professional' Meguiar's product, M&G Supply down on Preston is a good one-stop shop. The guys in there are knowledgable and they pretty much carry the entire M-Line from Meguiar's (as well as many of the D-Line products) (and dang-near the entire 'PRO' line (that's a brand name)).
I hope that helps... if not, I'm still a short drive up the road.
