TW Ice Question

I bought a can of it a 2 or 3 weeks ago, and put 2 coats on my truck. I'm reading some pretty bad press on here about it. Worst part was I was either going to get that or the NXT. This was before I started reading the detailing portion of this site. So if I want to start all over, how long do I have to wait for the wax to wear off, or what can I do to speed up the process?

On a side bar, it's still beading up pretty well, and the truck looks pretty good. Although it's only been 3 weeks...

Thanks in advance

Mineral spirits will strip off old wax and not harm the clear coat

Give it an acid bath ASAP. As in, wash it in vinegar. I'm still swearing that crap caused some kind of etching on my paint. At least I didn't have a problem till I used that ICE crap. The water beaded up alright and when it dried in the sun it left my hood looking like it had a disease. I wouldn't use stuff again if gave me the company.

Gosh... lol...

You guys are harsh.

I'd allow it to slowly wear off... you'll have it gone very soon. DO NOT go acid or solvent. That's really not a good idea to just remove a product like Ice! I mean, you could easily use Dawn or something like that as your wash agent and remove it just as easily...

Why bring a tree trunk to batting practice when a Louisville Slugger will work better?

Well I paniced for the guy seeing how what that crap did to my hood. I thought about dawn but that just didn't seem good enough. I'm laughing out loud while I'm typing this too.

Unless you got a bad bottle of Ice, odds are that you simply exemplified problems that already existed on the hood. I *REALLY* doubt that the Ice etched your hood.

I've read oodles upon oodles of reviews of that product -- I've still never tried it -- but I've *NEVER* read of anyone having 'etching problems'. The only plus that I consistantly read/hear about is the lack of dusting and staining on trim. Other than that, it's not very highly regarded.

Dawn it is first thing tomorrow morning. I started reading the replies, and thought for a minute I was going to need a new truck... So if I wash it a couple of times with Dishwashing liquid, that should take off the ICE? Thanks everyone, I appreciate the help

Yeah. Dawn will cut it. Probably won't have to do it twice either.

Do not make a habit of using Dawn as it will also strip much of the necessary emollients that are present in the paint/clear to keep them from becoming brittle and such (ever seen a vehicle that looked white with oxidation? that's typically the clearcoat becoming 'non-clear' due to it being stripped of those vital elements).

You'll want to immediately get something else back on it if you're going to strip it. The ICE is *not* hurting your paint.

Like I said, you've forgotten more than I'll ever know. However, I can only deduce and digress. It's gone now. I know ICE burns pretty well.

So wash it with Dawn, dry it, and then put a coat of NXT on it? I hope so, since that's what's sitting in my garage. I also have some S100 too, but from what I've read I should put that on top of the NXT, not the other way around.

By theory, it should be just that easy (wash, NXT)

Now, if you're talking about S100 as a topper (which I would recommend for looks if nothing else), you're going to want to wait at least 12 or so hours so that the NXT can have an adequate amount of time to 'bond' to the paint. After that, you're golden on the S100 application.

That's seems to be what's "hot" in shine products right now. It's been posted on a good many forums. However, I check on black paint care while I'm surfing around.

On another messageboard I frequent there is a thread about TW Ice.There is about a 10 people raving about how great Ice is.LOL
I'd like to set them straight and tell them it's junk. But I'm outnumbered 10 to 1.So rather than me getting flamed for trying to help,I'll let them stay misinformed.
