Thanks Guys!!! Used Your Advice & Pics Incl...

This is my first post and I just wanted to say thanks to all those that gave advice for detailing. I just spent last weekend detailing my 2001 F150 and all I can say is...WOW!!!

I inherited a 2001 with 73,000 miles on the engine but the paint looked like it had 730,000 miles. When I went to pick it up, it was sitting under some trees and I honestly could not tell what color it was. I have never seen paint with that much sap, dirt, grime and water spots. I was embarrassed to drive it home.

Anyway, I washed it (2X) with Megs NXT car wash...Clayed it using Meguiars clay and Quick Detail as lube...applied Megs cleaner wax...follwed that with a coat of Megs NXT Tech Wax. I was simply blown away with the richness of the finished product.

Before the process, I removed the old maroon & grey pinstripe or at least what was left of it and applied a black pinstripe. When I got it, it had 16" tires with stock wheels that were beyond repair. I bought a set of KMC 18" 5 spoke chrome wheels and wrapped a set of Continental tires around them.

Here are some pics of the final version...

Check out the reflection of my daughter on this one...

Here is one of the pinstripe...

Let me know what you guys think.

Here is a link to bigger pics...

Very, very nice job, Rocky Top 150. Makes me proud to be a Ford truck owner. I understand it's very difficult to achieve reflections on white paint. The NXT did a fine job here too. I also like the look of your chrome fender flares, which gives a much deeper contrast in reference to the tires and rims.

You can be proud of all your hard work. It really paid off.

It's amazing what a little TLC can do to a neglected paint surface!

Now keep her looking pretty!

Thanks for the props guys. I owe it all to the experts on this forum. The info that I got while lurking on this forum was next level. I followed the advice to a "T" and the results speak for themselves. My neighbor actually came over and said, "Did you get you a new truck?" He could not believe it when I told him it was the same one I drug in last week. The look on his face was priceless.

I picked up those fender flares as an after thought but I think they turned out well. Thanks for the kudo's. I am going to paint my grill this weekend and I will post pics after it is done. I just wish I had some before pics to show. I swear, Megs could use them for advertising. The difference is outstanding.

01sprcab14...I picked those wheels up at a local rim shop. They are KMC 18". I got the tires and the wheels, mounted and balanced for a little less than $1500.00. I was going to give you a link to their web site but those were not listed.

Looks like a nice truck with lots of elbow grease put into it. I'm not a fan of the wheel opening chrome but to each his own.
