Mirror Glaze VS. Scratch-X
Can you tell me if there is any appreciable difference between these two Megs products. Obviously the price is a sticking point with me. I've read the Megs product guide and by reading I see none in their descriptions. However, I feel a bit more comfortable knowing from an experienced user.
16 ounces Mirror Glaze#3 medium cut, and #2 fine cut, both sell for $9.99.
7 ounces of Scratch-X sells for $8.69.
So what's the deal, Camille?

I am sure RockPick can help much more than I can but the Professional Line, Mirror Glaze, are for machine application with a DA or rotary, while Scratch-X was made to be applied by hand. Also I think the Mirror Glaze stuff is intended to be used over large areas whereas the Scratch-X is really kind of meant for smaller areas.
Having never used medium cut or fine cut, the only thing I can really tell you is how abrasive Meguiars rates those particular products according to the scale of 1 to 10 that they use on their professional line of products.
#3 is actually Machine glaze and is not very abrasive at all with an abrasive rating of 1.
#1 medium-cut has an abrasive rating of 7
#2 fine-cut has an abrasive rating of 5
ScratchX I believe would probably rate at about a 3 on the abrasive scale with #82 or #9 being the closest equivalents to Scratch X from the professional line of products.
Hopefully that helps some, but I’m sure someone else with actual experience with those particular products may offer you some better information.

That's cool, thanks fellas. While Megs has so many products to choose from their product marketing is quite strange unless one is very familiar using their products.
I'm wondering if anybody has, or can post a comparison list--pro-line equivalent to the A line, Wal-mart, K-Mart consumer products. (i.e.) Deep Crystal wax would compare to what, in the professional line.
It's like this Scratch-X stuff. 7 onces for the same price as 16 onces of something very similar or the same? I'm all for using their products, but for cryin' out loud, that's a helluva price difference.

There really is no 100% direct equivalent products between the consumer and professional lines. Each are uniquely formulated in one way or another, however there are many products in the pro line that will do what a product from the consumer line will do and then some. If you are looking to replace one of their consumer products with a similar product from their professional line, more times than not the professional product will be more money, with ScratchX being the exception (ounce per ounce). For example the deep crystal wax from the consumer line is approx. $5.49 for 16 ounces, while #26 (the next closest product from their professional line) is $12.49 for 16 ounces. Just using that as an example.

Have any of you guys ever had any luck with scratch -x? I've used it a few times and it seems to lighten up the scratch for a few minutes and then as I look at it again it seems to look just as bad! Any one else feel the same?
When one looks at it like that Mister B. I would agree to a certain extent. However, I wouldn't agree with a 100% non-equivalent. For instance what is the difference between say #9 swirl remover and Deep Crystal system polish. #9 is priced at $10.99 for 16 onces, while the DC is $5.49 for 16 onces.
While I'm reading the product description for both, I don't read much of a difference between the two except for the price, label. It maybe worded a little differently but the bottom line is, they both do or accomplish the same thing/results according to what is written in Megs product statement. And both can be applied by machine, so the story goes from Megs.
