Yeah, autozone is where I got mine. It takes all the impurities out of the paint, and makes it feel smooth as silk.

Is it a paste type substance? And what is the stuff called you bought. Do you put it on before the wax?

no it's actually a bar/stick of clay.

never used it myself but i've heard it does wonders

if i remember correctly you use it like you would wet sand a vehicle. ie. while the vehicle is wet you rub the clay bar over the paint.

use before wax

Not a stupid question--gets asked here at least once a month...which brings me to my next point: Do a search. I know it's not the answer you want, and it's a cop-out answer, but this has been discussed here many times. I really don't feel like atempting to emulate RP either--it would make my brain hurt.

BUT--DEFINATELY CLAY...It's a great product.

It only runs about $20 and comes with a detailing spray to use with the bar. Its says not to use water, so stick to the directions and u cant go wrong. I just did it last week and it truely is well worth the 4 hours of claying! Be prepared to spend at least 6 hours to wash, clay and wax ur truck.

As needed... typically 2 or 3 times per year for me in this crappy environment.

What takes you so long???
To do my truck--Interior, exterior, FULL detail-- 6-8hrs.

For the beamer I did yesterday: 3.5 hours.

The slowest I've seen claying go is on one part of the beamer that was approx 8" long and 1" wide that was rough...but this only took about 2 minutes to get smooth as glass.

I also don't see the point in taping off. I've now used the DA several times, and the only time I saw it practical to tape off was when working on my mother's X-Terra...

I know I am speedy Gonzolez or something...Everybody takes 12-15 hours for a full detail..I do it in 1/2 that time. Do you guys take breaks or something??? I sure don't I figure that if I take a break, dust will accumulate, and cause a swirl while I finish...contradicting the purpose... anyway, enough of my 'rant'

Yep about 12 to 15 hours, just on paint. If thats what it's taking everybody else I don't feel so bad. I figured I was just old and slow.
