Is Meg's NXT SD going bye bye?

I just got back home from Advanced Auto and they were closing out the NXT SD origianaly 8.88 down to4.45 but the manager came up and I asked him if it was just a sale or what? All he knew was that they (Advanced Auto) were not going to have it anymore. He gave me what was left on the shelf for 2.00 thats right two bucks a piece. I cleaned em out. They had 8 bottles left so I got em all for a woppin 16.00. Great deal but hate to see it go.

As far as I know Meguiars is not discontinuing that product. Advance probably just chose to not carry it anymore for whatever reason.

I hope it's not getting discontinued. What's the "SD" part of NXT? I've only known it by NXT, so...

RP--you are in the loop with car care comapnies--are they discontinuing NXT???

I assume that he's talking about 'Speed Detailer'.... I've not heard anything about it being dropped (although, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they did -- I won't buy it at $2 per bottle; much less $9 or $4.50.)

Oh. Duh. Speed detailer...I would only take it as a clay lube. They can discontinue it if they like. Just as long as they keep the metal polish and the wax on the NXT line I'm happy.

The wax won't go anywhere anytime soon... although, I seem to recall a little chatter on some formulation changes -- minor stuff.

Meg's tweaks their stuff here and there on occasion to improve performance yet they keep it under the same label as the tweaks aren't significant enough - typically - to warrant calling it a new product.

For example, the recent changes to Scratch-X were significant enough that they opted to make a marketing move and promote that it's now 'better/greater/more effective' blah blah blah. Marketing hype if you ask me because the tweak is SO insignificant.

RP why are you opposed to the NXT Speed Detailer? I have used it and the regular Meg's Mist and Wipe Quick Detailer and other than the NXT being a little more smeary and the Mist and Wipe being a little more watery I get just about the same results out of each. This is after a good coat of NXT wax.

Hit the nail on the head right there...

I'd speculate that they can't sell the stuff at nearly $9 per bottle. In all honesty, there aren't many folks on the detailing boards that I surf that really care for it.

Lots of folks, however, like Quik Detailer - me included.

Either way man... it's not what other people think about the product -- it's what YOU think about it. If you like it, buy it and use it!

I'll use my last 3 bottles (I've had them since it came out and it was given to me to 'try')... it'll just be 3 bottles of clay lube as it does fine for a task of that nature for me...

Again though, it's your preference... who cares what everyone else thinks?

Oh no I didnt take it the wrong way, I was just curious if there was an underlying issue with it or not as far as performance, protection, application or whatever.

Nah... no issues with the product really other than I don't like the outcome on a dark vehicle. Smears are a booger on anything dark as they detract from the overall look of the paint.

I do like the smell... ... There, I said something positive about it beyond it being used for clay lube. LOL! Oh, another thing... I like the spray bottle (it throws an ULTRA-FINE mist - but, it's the same spray nozzle as the Quik Detailer bottle so, not sure that's a product-specific 'like' about it).

I agree with RockPick about the bottle spraying a even mist!! I bought a couple just to get the spray bottle. Now I use the bottles with other products.

You use it even with the 10 gallons of final detail you've got? Wow. Or is the normal stuff for customers?

The Final Detail (D-5105) is reserved for *me* and not used as clay lube.

I ditched the NXT SD for Clearkote Quik Shine and also Poorboy's Spray and Gloss. The NXT would smear all the time and look cloudy.
