Windshield Question...

When im washing my truck i notice like a film on my winsheild in the shape of where my wiper blades move on there... also this comes up when the windsheild is fogged up. its kind of annoying especially when it is raining because the water seems to just smear in it not run off very well. Do you guys know of anyway to get rid of this?

I'd try Stoners Invisible Glass. Works great on all glass maladies I've seen (so far.) Is it on the inside or outside? It may have something to do with your wiper blades. When is the last time you replaced them? Did you get the cheap kind or some noce ones?

Anyway, if I was you I'd definately look into the Invisible Glass, wiper blades (if needed) and Rain-X.

I know there's people on this forum that have used different polishing techniques on their glass in the same way as you would compund a clearcoat. You may want to look into this to make your glass perfectly smooth and blemish-free.

A standard glass cleaner, most likely, will not remove the abrasive wear that you are describing. The only way to really 'remove it' is to abrasively make all of the glass flat again...

Really interested in this? If so, here's a good kit...

It is on the outside. I just replaced my blades a week ago. I'll read up on some glass cleaning techniques around here. thanks for the reply.

Here's an old trick, from an old guy...

Open a can of Coca Cola and let it go flat. With a normal household sponge, scrub the windshield with the Coke.

Something in the sugar/acid of a Coke that takes the film off...

I know, I know...but it works!

I use Meg's NXT Glass cleaner and it does a very nice job. I have also used Stoner's and it also did a good job for me.

I don't think he's looking for a glass cleaner though... a glass cleaner will remove road grime and such but not the abrasive problem that has been caused by repeated use of the wipers...

I know exactly of the symptoms that he's talking about and, while I'm not certain that my course of action will solve the problem, he's going to have to use somethign abrasive on the glass to remove the 'ghost' of the wiper path.

I agree with RP, I'd recommend trying this product, we sell it at the glass shop, it will remove anything on glass thats not etched below the surface (not at stage 2 level of etching)

Water spots or what?

While I don't condone the use of products such as Soft Scrub or Kaboom on an automotive surface, I'm quite confident that you could successfully use such a product pending that you used the UTMOST of care to not get it on paint, trim, moldings, etc...

In short, I'd recommend spraying a little 'Kaboom' on a shop rag while standing away from your vehicle and using it to wipe down the glass...

Again, this is a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK scenario...
