Runs in paint on door jamb... WTH is this?

On the inside of my door towards the front I have some paint runs. Anyone know if it could have came from the factory like that? I have seen no other evidence of body or paint work on the truck.

that dont happen from the factory, when i was painting cars we used to get cars from the dealers with scratches in the jambs, and we would paint them. that sounds like what happened to your truck, sometimes there is damage during shipping or on the lot. very common.

While it's not common from the factory, it *can* happen. But, like allrsdup mentioned, it'd blow your mind how many 'new' cars come in off the transport with a scratch or ding...

Got curious and took it by a Ford body shop. The guy looked at the door and said it was probably done at the factory. Scary.....

When I bought my truck it had a scratch in it from the factory on the passenger side of the bed. It looked like something had hit the paint while it was wet, it didn't look like a normal scratch but as if the paint was torn. Then the clear was shot over it so it was a smooth as the rest of the truck. The dealership body shop took care of it under warrenty.

This is an 8 year old truck and I did not buy it from them. I really see no reason why he would lie telling me it was done at the factory if he did not believe it. I was asking his opinion on whether my truck had been repainted or had prior collision damage. He said he believed it still had the original paint.

allrsdup,
Sorry I should have posted the age originally. The runs I can fix in about 20 minutes but I was concerned that the truck had been repainted. It is a low miler one owner (before me) and in mint condition otherwise I would not care. But it appears the truck was never repainted.

ddellwo,
Did you notice that before you bought it? I have never seen factory runs before but now I know it occurs.

I noticed it when I got the vehicle home and began detailing it for the first time. In my opinion, it's so minor that I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I know where it is, and even so, I have to really look closely to find it.

For what it's worth, my new F-150 didn't have "perfect" paint from the factory either. I know of a few areas on the truck where there are little bits of contaminant trapped under the factory clearcoat.

I guess that's the curse of detailing a vehicle so religiously -- you know where all the "warts" are!

My truck had some junk under the paint on the bed that came from the factory that I didn't notice when I picked it up. It was fixed under warranty though.
