Planning on a little newbie detailing this weekend and need some help

After some searching around on this forum I've decided to wash (obviously) claybar and a three step cleaner/pollisher/wax. I've got a good car wash, stoner's glass cleaner, and some microfiber towels. I plan on picking up a mother's claybar kit and Meg's 3 step system after work. Is there anything else I need that I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just get the Meg's kit that includes the clay? You are missing tire dressing if you like a glossy tire.

Technique.... Technique.... Technique.

Products can get you to a certain level but, proper procedure and technique will take you above and beyond...

Just enjoy yourself -- there's no more relaxing way to spend a weekend than being out in the garage making your baby shine!

Use the two bucket wash and rinse technique. I didn't think it would make a difference but it does.

I have to admit... many moons ago when I heard folks talking about this, I thought it goofy too...

Ironically, I always use at least a two bucket system now... I've gone with three several times as well on the really grungy rides -- especially really grungy black vehicles.

Almost done

Thanks for the advise. I've gone through wash, claybar, paint cleaner, polish, NXT wax. I think I'm going to put on another coat of NXT and maybe finish with a coat of carnuba. It already looks better than it did in the showroom. It looks like a green mirror. Well worth the 6 hours I put in on Sat.

You don't the coat on carnuba wax on top of the NXT, it won't give it any more protection or shine, in fact it might cloudy up the finish. Apply the booster spray after your next wash and it will pop even better.

Not necessarily true.

Once a synthetic has bonded, you can apply a topper.

I agree. Just give the NXT a drying period of overnight or so, and then get a coat or 2 of a carnuba wax, and your baby will shine like no freakin' other. , and as RP said before, Technique is key. (And in this case, proper drying/curing times are too...)

Definetly two coats of carnuba! I did my wife's Lexus without the carnuba and a month later it looked dull. My truck was done with NXT and two coats, looks great after a month with just a simple wash!

Where do ya get this gloss enhancer and how much does it cost???

Is it a spray or a wax-type application?

Based on your experience, would it look good on a silver truck?

RP, what do you think about this product, and do you reccommend it?
