Angry Dented bumper/scratched gate

Sometime in the last 8 days, some a$$hat backed into my new truck and dented the bumper and scratched the tailgate. AAARRRGGGHHH!

Since I have body work done on my cars about once a decade, anyone know the price range of replacement bumpers and re-painting of a tailgate?

Thanks in advance....

I'm going to take a wild shot at what I read on here. I think it's about 250 to paint the tailgate, and 350 to replace the rear bumper if it's chrome. If my memory is correct that is, if not someone please correct me!

Good move - trucks can be fixed - don't break the "old lady."

I'm mainly pissed because the perpetrator didn't have the cajones to fess up and leave a note or anything. I really suspect it happened yesterday morning in my office parking lot, but have no proof - last time I really looked at the bumper was a week or so ago when I last washed the truck. I was using the bed to haul dogs & such on Sat and Sun, so I think I would have noticed, but who knows. Had to have been a truck or SUV because of the height of the damage.

that really makes me mad that someone wouldn't fess up. Last winter I got cought in the snow in my camaro and slid around a corner and hit a jeep charakee. It really didnt hurt my car but took his bumper off. I called the police and when he got there he wasw put of i called him, he pretty much told me i should of left withou comming out and saying it.

I just got my truck back from the shop. I had to have my front bumper and driver's side fender repaired after I hit a deer. The front bumper was able to be straightened as it only had a slight twist to it and wasn't dented or cracked. Total to fix and paint the fender and straighten the bumper was $350.00. Couldn't really complain.
I think it's about that much alone to replace a chrome bumper.

Got my estimate yesterday. Are you sitting down? To replace the bumper, rubber step pad, and repaint tailgate is a whopping $1,386. Ouch.

My insurance company told me to file a hit-and-run police report and I may not have to pay a deductable... I felt like a complete idiot calling the police and saying "I don't really know when it happened or where it happened, but here's when and where I noticed it." So much for my finely honed detective skills. Thankfully the investigating officer seems ok. Feels like a waste of his time and mine, but if it saves me $500, it's worth it.

It's been raining so much lately that I barely even look at the truck as I dash for the house. If it hadn't been clear Monday I still might not have noticed it.

It seems any kind of small fender bender is at least $1000. Hopefully insurance will pick up most of that. The rain will stop hopefully after this weekend for a while.
