Holy Cat Crap Batman! It stinks in there! (Please help....)

Some how a cat got locked in my wifes Exploder over night last night.
Luckily it didn't do any major damage, chewed on the center console lid to try and get at some dog treats my wife carries in there for her dog. But I was going to replace that due to a crack anyway. Glad I hadn't done that yet.
But....
It did manage to crap in the floor board. We cleaned it out and used Simple Green on it. But it still stinks to high heaven. She left all her windows cracked open all day, she parked on the passenger side of my F150 today and I could smell it when I got in my truck. I'm afraid this smell might seep over and contaminate my beautiful truck, so I must stop it. (besides she said it made her eyes water while driving it) But how can I remove this smell?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Go by your local Petco or whatever they have in your area. They have things for this.

Unfortunatly it was the daughters Tigger Stripe.
I've wanted to shoot it many times!

I hadn't thought about febreeze!
I'll go shoot it down now.

After I posted this then I decided that if it still stinks tomarrow, I'll scrub it with Tuff Stuff carpet shampoo, hose it out at the car wash. (it is in the cargo area so no worries about water damage) then vac the water up with thier vac. and spray it with thier carpet scents.
But I may run to the pet store first and see if they have anything, "If they are open on Sunday + New Years."

I've used that Tuff Stuff shampoo before and it has done some amazing things.

For ~$80 at Wal-mart you can get the Bissel 'Little Green Machine' carpet shampooer. I don't know if I'd buy it based on an isolated incident such as yours, but it's a must with kids! Works great. Gets out: Coffee, soda, O.J., among a myriad of other things. Great investment.

We have one "my wife hates it" but we were just talking about using it on it.

She hates it becasue she borrowed a friends Hoover steam shampooer before christmas and it saved some carpet in the living room that we had already cleaned with the Little Green Machine and I had wrote off as ruint. It all looks new again now. So now she wants one of those. I hate to see how much that is going to cost me.

I have some super good stuff for that, its made by blue coral (I don't know if its available retail or not) simply called odor eliminator. It was a GM factory item for a long time (they used it for everything) and it used to be like $65 a gallon. Now its about $30 a gallon, but it works wonders. Also, try ozium air sanitizer. That stuff kills anything

My wife had a cat that sprayed, I guess male cats do that, and she used vinegar on the carpet (home carpet) to get the smell out. I was thoroughly amazed with what a good job it did. If your wifes eyes were watering then there may be a chance that the cat did more than #2. Good Luck.

Like Navi mentioned, I was going to suggest Ozium... and some VERY thorough cleaning.

Actually, Hoover makes a much better upright cleaner for floor carpet (I have one also, tried Bissels upright, but it sucks), but I think the 'Green Machine' does better in smaller spaces. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck.

I had a cat get shut in an '81 Mustang I owned years ago. It peed on the passenger rear floorboard. Luckily at the time it was summer out. I cleaned it as good as I could with a spray on carpet cleaner. Once it dried I sprinkled it with baking soda and let it sit in the sun with the doors open. The next morning I vacuumed up the soda, put a fresh layer on and let it sit in the sun again. I did this every day for about a week and the odor was finally gone.

Thanks guys, we did the vinegar today and baking soda, tomarrow if it is still there we are going to the pet store and see what they have for that. Then we'll get some Ozium.
By Tuesday if it is still there then I will probably see if I can get some carpet for the cargo area thrown in when I buy the console lid at the salvage yard and just replace the carpet back there.

Here is the damaged console lid
(The small crack in the middle was alreay there.)

Moral of the story. DO NOT leave a cat in your car over night!
