Scratched windshield, any fixes?

I recently decided to use scrubbing pad to remove some stubborn bugs from my windshield. Yesterday I noticed faint scratches all over the glass. They're only visible at the right angle but I would like to fix it.

If anyone here knows how to remedy my mistake I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Just an update, I've found a couple of kits from Eastman and GRiots Garage. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these.

I dunno. I know that, for whatever reason, the glass on an '04+ F150 scratches if you look at it the wrong way.

eastwood has a great kit for scratches. Really nothing to it. Just approach it as if you were removing scatches from paint. Just be sure to keep the polisher moving and cool or you may be wearing the glass. Also if you can feel it with your fingernail then it may require more agressive treatment. in which case Id suggest taking it somewhere to be done by a pro.

Hope this helps,

Luis S

I've used toothpast to remove fine scratches before and it works great. Hey, if it can polish the enamel on my teeth, why not a windshield? It's just a very-fine abrasive. Almost certainly finer than the abrasive pad you were using to remove the bugs. That's all polishing is - using finer and finer abrasives until you can't see the scratches anymore.

Im not sure how to get it out, but i was just curouis. What kind of scrubbing pad did you use? Usally what i do to get out stuff like that is use the finest steel wool(#0000) and clearview glass cleaner. Anything more gritty and you will get scratches. Plus this way iv found works great, that and put some rain-x on you windshield, its a lot easier to wash and take car of. another great $4.99 spent.

My dumba$$ used a green scouring pad. I used it in the past w/o any problems so I'm thinking that there was probably some sand (gotta love florida) in the pad or on the glass. I'm just going to wait and have it replaced when I return home to Texas....73 days and counting...

What are the benefits of using Rain-X?

Thanks

You know, if you have something really stubborn on glass that you can not remove just using glass cleaner or soap when washing your truck, then you can always use a scraper. Just like if you were removing a sticker, just be careful and it will come right off.

Talking

a good thing about rain-x is it makes your windshield really clear! but for its purpose it just sheets off water! i wont ever go out in a vehicle that doesnt have rain-x on its windshield! i honest truth dont even need windshield wipers unless its a really really heavy rain! just driving and the water flys off!

Not only does rain-x make your windshield look new and beads water like you wouldnt belive. See you clean your windshield, and then put rain-x on. Then when debris and other things get onto your windshiels its a little easier to get it off. Plus when ever it rains, lol you dont see any water marks Which is the one thing that i hate on my truck.
