New wash wax method

Okay, I figure this board will shoot this one down in a hurry, but here goes anyway.

For the last year or so I've been lazy about wax jobs, so I tried a new method that is fast and easy.

About every fifth or sixth wash (two months or more spacing) I wash the truck. While it's still wet, I use a big wax applicator and wax the roof and hood area. Then I mix up some car wash liquid and wash the wax off as it begins to haze. Then I repeat the procedure with the doors, sides, and back, working from top to bottom on each panel. The car soap washes the wax off pretty easy, and the truck beads up after the wash and before I dry it.

I even use cleaner the same way.

Only takes me an hour or sometimes an hour and a half to complete the whole truck.

?

What is the harm done with this process? I am not agreeing or disagreeing with it. Just curious about what is the down side to doing this.

Usually whatever is sitting around out on the shelf in the garage. This time it was Meguiars squeeze bottle of cleaner/wax and one of those sponge applicators so you can wring out the water every so often.

SSSHHush!!!! RP still hasn't heard us!

I have some of that. I guess should work, Meguire's sells the quick stuff to do that very thing. RP read it, he just passed out and hasn't revived yet.

Just buy some of the "Eagle One Wax As You Dry" stuff in a spray bottle if your going to do it that way. Just spray it on while it's still wet, and dry it with a microfiber towel. That's what I do when I don't feel like doing a full-on wax job with the paste or liquid waxes. It wouldn't be any more time consuming than the procedure your using now.

Lemme get this straight: You wash it, don't dry it... instead you 'wet-wax' it, and then basically re-wash it again to get the wax off. Now isn't that more work then wash, dry, wax, remove wax? Todays modern waxes come off so flippen' easy I don't see the point or the time saved....

Why don't you just buy the spray-on waxes that are meant to do what your doing?!

Is this for real?!

Have you tried doing the clay bar process at the same time?

It might be possible to dip the clay bar in some wax and knead the clay and alternate with some car wash. You'd end up with "clay/wash/wax" sandwich wafer, sort of the "triple oreo" of car care.
