Just cleaned my engine up a bit

I just cleaned up my engine a bit, it was more of a lick and a promis then a detail but I think it looks a lot better.

Chris,

Looking good!

Now, if you really want to get it "spiffy", keep after it. Every week or two, clean it a little more, or work on getting one specific area "super clean". You'll be surprised how great you can make it look in a short period of time.

One of the secrets to "easy", but "great" detailing, is to never let stuff get to far gone!

Top notch work! Good job!

As Boss mentioned, 3/4 of the battle is getting the condition back to a point that you're happy with. 1/4 of the work is maintaining it...

Now that you've obviously dumped a chunk of time into your engine compartment, stay on top of it and keep er' spiffy. It'll be 10X easier now that you've done it once in a full-fledge fashion. (I'm still trying to 'learn' Engine Koat Boss... any hints?).

I do my compartment about twice per year with regular maintenance (about every other washing).

G'luck and again, nice job!

That NXT Tech Protectant is nice stuff. I like the fact that it's not too sticky/ greasy. I can use it on my vinyl running boards (not too much) and still step in and out of my truck without busting my butt. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to last a real long time on exterior surfaces.

Looks good!

Thanks guys, it was getting pretty dirty in there. Last summer I was trying to keep it clean but with the way the cold weather has been I havn't had much of a chance but I am going to have to put more of an effort into keeping ontop of it.

Wow thats a big difference. How did you approach this? Degreaser and hose down or just the degreaser and a wipe down?

I sprayed it down with degreaser then used a cheap Terry Clothe towel and wiped everything down real nice. That way I don't have to worry about wrapping everything up to protect it from water. I started from the top and worked my way to the bottom, just like washing the truck, for obvious reasons.

That's definitely the safest way to do it in today's day and age of electronic equipment in the engine compartment... Nice job!
