Rust in the pipes

My tailpipe tips have a little rust building up on them, if i spray the rusty part with wd-40, will it eat some of the rust off? Thanks in advance

I don't think it'll 'eat it off' but, it'll certainly prevent further corrosion pending that you do it regularly.

The oils in the WD40 will act to displace water and thus, prevent further corrosion...

thanks for the reply, the wd-40 wont ruin the chrome finish if a little splashes on the outside of the pipe, will it? because the rust is on the inside, towards the very end, i dont want it to spread though.

That I'm not sure of....

I wouldn't think it'd be a problem but, I'm far from certain.

WD-40 will not hold up on the inside of the pipe, due to the heat. WD-40 doesn't diminish chrome plating.

EXCELLENT point Max... I never thought about the heat factor.

I have the same thing happening to mine. I was thinking about sanding the rust off, and painting the inside of the tips with some flat black high temp paint. I just haven't got around to doing it yet.
