04 Heritage trim question.

In the picture below, I have circled the trim on my truck. I have been wondering this for a long time. I did a search, but didnt find anything related to my question. My question is simple.

Is the trim held on by an adhesive like 3M tape, or is it in place by some other means (rivets or screws of some sort)?

I wanna remove the trim, but dont wanna have any holes or "rivets" (or whatever may be holding it in place) to be visable.

Thanks in advance.

Virtually all of that stuff is now held in place with 3M trim tape. Unfortunately, that also means that there are holes in the body for alignment pins in the trim to line up with. So, if you remove it, you end up with some nice deer whistles.

My buddy ripped all of his off of his 2000 Silverado and there were no alignment pins underneath his, it was just held on with tape, and now it is just plain metal. Not sure about the Fords though.

There's NO alignment pins. There is 2 rows of adhesive tape with a gap between them. Removal: liberal 3M adhesive remover, heat, and sawing with fishing line.

thnx Max....I talked to a buddy of mine and he told me the same thing. He removed his with no problems, like you mentioned. He used WD40 to get the 3M tape "gunk" off. I will be removing it this weekend.

I believe that 3m makes an adhesive remover product. You might check into that...

You're Welcome ! Yes, the 3M adhesive remover works far better than WD-40, as there's alot of adhesive. It's about $5 a can at Wal-Mart and is good to have around for many uses. I recently saw the backs of the exact same moulding that you have when I installed them on my Lightnings.
