Question Exterior UV protectant/shine that won't run in the the rain?

I'm looking for a good protectant/shine for the exterior plastic that won't look like oil slicks on my paint after a rain.

I've tried 303, Meguiars Gold Class rubber/plastic protectant and some others but I can't seem to get anything to "stay".

This last time I've used Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer (the one that's like a lotion, not the one in the spray can). I've gone over all the rubber trim around the windows, plastic on the mirrors, bed caps, etc. Then I went back and wiped them all down with a MF towel to get all the excess I could off. Of course now they are calling for rain tomorrow so I'm wondering if it's gonna stay or run down the paint again....we'll see.

So what is your exterior protectant of choice? And what do you do special to apply it (if anything?)

I've never used anything that doesn't run. Plastic doesn't absorb so your gonna be hard pressed to get anything to adhere to it. Too bad they don't make a 'plastic polish'. That may work.

whoops. Looks like all of those are for "clear" plastics.

Darn.

While I've only experimented minimally with 303 Aerospace Protectant, I hear that those folks have no problems with running.

I find that, as long as I remove any excess that may be on the trim work/plastic, Meguiar's #40 works very well...

Never had the problem...the protectant gets soaked into the rubber or dash material so their is none on top.

Unless you are putting it on trim that your not supposed to.?

I have never had 303 run. However, I spray it onto a MF first and then apply and work it in well.

You can usie Klasse All-in-One or Vanilla Moose for plastics.

Used it on my soft tonneau...if too much was applied, ( I would spray it on then wipe it down) it would run down the sides of my truck when it would get wet. Pretty much started applying it to the rag ...then rubbed it in. Really did not notice the problem after that. I am now using Meguires NXT wax and protectant. Same technique....good luck
