Tried to buy a Clay bar for cleaning the finish....

I walked into "Auto Zone" this afternoon and tried to buy the cleaning kit- preferably from "mothers", that included a clay bar, and the manager looked as though I asked him if he had potato chips growing out of his a$$. Had NO idea of what a clay bar was, except that he played with one in grade school, right before he made a bowl for his mom.

Maybe its too new for New England?

They've been available to consumers for around 10 years or more? Try another store.

Most all of the Autozones in this region sell a kit from Clay Magic that is supposed to be okay.

Check with your local Pep Boys, Kragen, et al... they're out there.

Unfortunetly, I had to drive 20 miles to get to Auto Zone, which is the closest "auto specialty" store around. Even spoke to the manager, with "many" years on the job. Still looked at me like I had an alien emerge from the top of my head. I asked him if anyone else might know, and he just said "no". I said, "alright, well thank you so much for all your help- I'll spend my money on-line then! "
I'll check some of the on-line stores, and maybe next month Auto Zone boy will be slinging fries at Burger King.

You don't have an alien growing out of your head?

HAHA!

Sorry you can't find the stuff man. I know it's a bummer.

Just as a suggestion, www.premiumautocare.com is a great resource!

LMAO !!!

That must have been what he was looking at!

It does bug me- now that I've done all my reading here on the site, I want to clean my finish and get a good wax down before winter sets in. I swear- at night, I can hear the contaniments eating through my paint into the bare metal... It must be my alien hearing!

Thank RP for the info...

Have you tried Wal Mart, everybody has one of those nearby? At least it seems like it when I drive cross country. I pass one like every 5-10 minutes it seems?,,,,98

How embarassing- A Wal-mart will have a clay ber before an auto specialty store. Jeez, no wonder they're taking over the world.

The closest one to me is about 1 hour away, in wareham. I'll try that next time I venture toward civilization!

Clay Magic was on clearance at my local Wally World last week. I cleared them all out for $3 each.

That's a pretty good deal! I've never seen that kit that cheap and, for that case, I don't think I've EVER seen it at Wally World.

Guess it's the classic scenario where one carries it and another doesn't... For example, my local Wally world doesn't have NXT in stock or even shelf space for it but, the Wal-Mart that I frequent in Yakima, Washington (for supplies on a job site out there) carries nearly the entire NXT line.

What is this NXT you speak of?

Kidding, online I go, I think I will buy the clay bar from Mequires while I am ordering the NXT.

Here wally world doesn't carry and the auto parts stores either don't have it in stock and don't know when they will get it (claybar).

I asked the guy at autozone about NXT and he looked at me with this blank stare while he stated that he never heard of it.

Online ho!

edit: what is a good site to go to to get it, I would pefer the cheapest one. I know that when I get back from my deployment my truck will need a good claybar treatment.
