Backside of Wheels

During a recent tire rotation, I took the time to clean the grime and brake dust from the back of my wheels. It made a big difference in the overall appearance (like keeping the doorjambs clean). What does everyone do to keep them clean? I'm not about to remove them every time I wash the truck, and I don't want to use any harsh cleaners. As it is now, I keep the wheels waxed and only use soap and water. I was thinking of getting a johnny mop to get back there. Any tips? I'm thinking maybe the guy that polishes the inside of his exhaust tips might have something useful!

Since I bought my truck back in 01, I've had my wheels off several times to clean them... I think some people call the act of removing your wheels to simply clean them 'obcessive'.

They might be right, but I don't care! Most of my friends think I'm wacked because I wax my door jambs.

Right there with you guys. I have owned my truck now for 6 months and have had the wheels off twice. I washed the back of the wheels and then applied 303 to the back and front. I then went on to put 3 coats of Zaino on the rims as well…

Not ****, just regular maintenance…

That too is regular maintenance as well. I find it odd that people don’t polish the insides of their exhaust tips, polish/wax their rims both front and back, and put a coat of 303 on the back and front of the tire…

Nothing wrong with you, I wax my door jambs too. Also the underside of the hood and yes, , even the inside of the exhaust tips. I just dont tell anyone about that.

Dont want to appear to ****.

I remove my rims 2 to 3 times a year to clean and wax the backsides, usually just during a normal rotation though.

Sled...

Haha And yes, when I had chrome tips, I did polish the insides. Guess I'll be removing them every once in a while.

Think that's bad? I do all that plus wax my rear shocks since you can see them when you're behind me - probably in a Chevy. Do you think there's some kind of support group for this. Wait, I'm at their web site right now. Hi, I'm Tom and I'm **** about my Ford.

I have NEVER cleaned the inside of my exhaust tips but you guys made me clean mine yesterday.

Full strength Simple Green made it easy to clean. I polished the inside of the tips with Brasso and they look great.
