Best Shine Participants

How about we get a thread going giving a little description of your truck and what products were used to achieve the great shine everyone had. I'll get it started:

1998 Lincoln Navigator 4x4
102,000 miles and dailey driven
Orginal paint except bumpers were painted to monochrome the paint job.

Products used:

Meguairs NXT Wash
Mothers Clay
Meguiars DACP
S100 SEC
Meguairs # 7 Show Car Glaze
S100 Carnuba Wax
Maintained with Meguiars Final Detail

Congratulations again MaxTorque02.

What I used is the following:

Meguiar's Gold Class wash and conditioner
Meguiar's Clay and QD
Meguiar's #83 then #82 on some bad scratches
Meguiar's #9 on the hood to remove some swirls
NXT (2 coats)
Meguiar's #26 (buffed with PC and MF bonnet)
Maintained with Last Touch
Meguiar's Hot Rim cleaner
Meguiar's High Endurance tire Gel, but rubbed in for a satin look, don't like the high gloss look.
RainX on the outside windows
Magic Eraser on trim then NXT Protectant on trim
AeroSpace 303 on trim on the step bars back bumper and trim in the doorways.

Great idea Max! (and might I add, that picture is better than the one that you won the contest with -- Well, at least by my vote.)

1. Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo
2. Meguiar's Body Shop Professional Clay w/ Final Inspection or Meguiar's #00 as the lubricant.
3. Meguiar's #83
4. Meguiar's #9
5. Meguiar's #26
6. Meguiar's #26
7. Meguiar's #26
8. Meguiar's Endurance (High Shine) -- Tires
9. Vinylex on Trim
10. Maintained with Meguiar's Final Detail

At the time this picture was taken, all products were HAND APPLIED as I didn't own a rotary nor PC.

Zaino

First time application:

Dawn wash
Clay
Zaino car wash Z7
3 coats Z5 followed by Zaino detail spray Z6
3 coats Z2 followed by Zaino detail spray Z6

Normal routine:
Zaino car wash Z7
Zaino detail spray Z6
Prior to winter will add 2 – 3 coats of Zaino Z2

DWG International (DRI WASH ‘n GUARD)
Premium Metal Polish

2 coats and it is very easy to keep clean. Every time I wash the truck I use an old mitt on the tires and simply wipe the insides of the exhaust tips with the same mitt of any carbon build up (black stuff) which is very, very little.

I usually apply it every 3rd wash or so. Takes about 15 minutes to put on and then buff off. It is easy on and easy off just like Zaino.

I use the 303 in the engine bay and on my tires. I love that stuff…

I'm a Zaino user too...have had good luck with it the one time I put Z2/Z5 on. The truck is due for another if I could ever catch a good weekend!

The Zaino tire stuff is good, IMO. Lasts longer and easier to apply than Armorall, and much better than any spray stuff I've used. I didn't realize how many little ***** a 35" tire has until I had to go back and Zaino each one of them!

I know Vinylx is water based, but do you have runs as well after it rains? I was a little surprised you used it for external trim/plastic.....
It's been my experience that NXT will run very slightly if it's only been on for a day or two. Beyond that, it seems to set very well.

I know what you mean about Vinylex... it does have a tendency to run (even after it's been on for days on end). Further, I've noted that it tends to attract a little more dust than other protectants. I haven't removed Vinylex from the aresonal but, it's been limited to Vinylex wipes now (no spray). The wipes seem to be a little more dilute but give the same shine. Also, it seems like it attracts less dust as I use them on my running boards frequently (which would be a high brake dust/road dust area).

Another great product for the engine compartment (that, unfortunately, has been discontinued) is Meguiar's Engine Coat (Detailer Line). I tried it out not too long ago at Meguiar's and I really liked the way that it went on and looked afterwards. As for longevity, I bought a gallon for myself and have been using it under my hood for going on a month and a half now... It really looks good, to this day even (only one application thus far).

I agree MAX, good idea for a thread!

On mine:

- Meguires Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo
- Meguires Detailer Line Mild Clay Bar with Gold Class Shampoo (and water) as lube.
- Poorboy's SSR #2 (duplicate coats applied to problem areas)
- Poorboy's SSR #1
- Meguires #26
- Meguires #26
- Boyd's Wheel Polish for chrome wheels and bumpers
- Meguires High Endurance Gloss Tire Gel
- 303 Protectant on all interior and exterior trim
- 303 Protectant in engine bay
- Meguires Final Detail for ongoing up-keep

Here's one of my favorite pics of my truck (the hood).

do it mister!! Zaino on the tires...lasts long, satiny sheen (not shine), drys quick so it doesn't "spray" and NEVER turns brown or leaves any sticky/slimy residue.
